Steering wheel squeak (video)

Hi all!

My steering wheel started squeaking a few days ago and I won't have time until Sunday to look into it.I searched and found several squeaking steering wheel topics, but it's hard to identify a noise based on a description.

Perhaps anyone recognizes this noise, and can point me in the right direction.

Video:

It only Happens when the car is warm, and I can only hear it while driving slowly, e.g. parking. Although that might be due to the engine noise. It also happens when the engine is off (see video).

The car is a 10/2000 318i sedan with 155k miles.

Any ideas what it might be based on this video?

Unfortunately there was a layer of snow outside, so I haven't been able to check a lot. However I did check my power steering fluid, and it was full.

I hear nothing on your video. cell phone cams suck at picking up noise though.

You're right, its not the best quality. However, when I turn up my volume I can hear it on my laptop. I'll check tomorrow if I have something better to record it with.

I had the same issue a while back. 2 cycles of power steering fluid flushes and the squeaking went away. Just r use the turkey baster DIY.

Hmm, yea it's been a while since I changed it. But if its the fluid, would it also squeak when the engine is off?

Little late update: changing the fluid fixed the issue! Thanks
