Thank you and absolutely needs to be replaced now i would hate to be stuck with any after accident side effects on a vehicle like this.

Thanks. Trust me i feel blessed i was thinking the worse as it was happening. The damage doesn't appear too bad but who knows if they will total it

Just curious: As a General Rule..what exactly constitutes a TOTALED vehicle? I know about the obvious "if it costs more to repair than the car's worth",
but couldnt internal engine damage from impact as well as framework be considered?

Everything has to be considered and i will fight to the death with my insurance that the car is damaged beyond a reasonable repair cost.
Thats what i was talking about when i said i dont want a 7 that has been hit. Once a car is in an accident esp in a situation like mine was on the highway, it will definitely never be the same. And i certainly wont be caught dead paying for issues in the near future that derived from the impact.
The car is a tank no doubt. But an expensive tank and to gamble with what will go wrong afterward i dont want to deal with the headache.
But in short insurance will handle all cosmetic, structural and mechanical damages a car incurs in an accident.
I guess I should also add in as long as you're covered ofc

I know that from watching Nascar, that when a car goes into a spin and the engine takes a "shock" or runs "backwards"
that they usually take it to the garage saying that it's "DONE". So that's why I was wondering if issues like that in an accident like yours can also constitute a reason for totaling?
Not necessarily JUST cosmetic damages..ya know what i mean?

Yes they have to take all that into consideration. Not just the prettiness of a vehicle

doesnt look totalled from the pics, but depends on other damage and how many miles are on the car. from the pics looks like it needs 2 bumpers and a tail light??

Glad to hear your okay man that's what's important and yeah it's better if they total it out because the car won't be the same and even if they fix it, it's going to be more headaches

On monday if im not buried still im going to review the dmges with a body shop before the insurance even looks at it. May even take that opportunity to take out my ipod and new screen and swap the old stuff back.

Yeah I hear you man it's best if its totaled out because without any accidents these cars have problems, you can imagine with an accident on them and I'm saying this because I had Experience this in the past with my 745Li and the damages wasn't that bad but the insurance companies paid me out what I paid

Not so riped after all its getting fixed now and will be back some time this week.
Kinda wish it was just totaled but whatever. More than likely i will try and sell it locally.

Glad to hear you getting your baby back, although the damage don't appear to be that bad. Any how any accident you can walk away from to tell your story is always good one in my book.

Thanks, its a shame because i could have used this as an opportunity to facelift the front end but i decided to pass as im not so sure that would help sell it. (Extra cost to facelift it)

Well independently it might but as for a trade in, it would more than likely hurt you. But hey the average person can't tell these cars apart anyways.
