I do agree with this. My 09 328xi w/ iDrive built into the dash which I think is really stylish. The new navs look like their added on versus being part of the car. On the whole though? LOVE the F30 style.

I had an f30 loaner twice and was quite impressed with that engine. That car pulled like crazy. I wasn't too keen on the sound of it coming from my n54, but the little engine certainly does the trick. The smaller engine has less weight and keeps the car lighter in the front. When reading some initial road tests, many of the enthusiasts preferred the 4cyl 6MT over the equivalent 6cyl saying it was a better driver's car.
Seeing one comment from a magazine doesn't warrant a lousy thread like this bashing the new f30.

The turbo 4 in the F30 showed me the error of my ways. I have been a NA bigot my entire life, refused to ever consider owning a FI engine. Had a F30 for a week though and LOVED the engine. Pulls like crazy and is a ton of fun to drive.
It is not as smooth as an inline 6, but I can't say I even cared about that.

Part of the feelings towards 4, is saying "I have 4" vs "I have 6". Bigger numbers sound more impressive, and typically are more impressive. Imagine they put the technology of the F30 4 cyl, into an F30 6 cyl. We know why they went down to a 4. Also, some of the engine note is made through artificial paths. Also, BMW and turbos..... well lots of people are familiar with those woes.

N20 is a nice powerplant compared to other euros. Take the MB I4 (250 moniker). Makes barely 200hp and that little thing is going in $50k+ autos.:what:
