Mein Auto: 2005 x5

Hello all, I have a 05 X5 4.4i, been a great truck so far. Quick question, I've had the battery drain down the past few mornings and I've noticed the light on the gear shift has been staying on all the time and I can hear a fan of some kind constantly running behind the climate control, any one have any idea if this is a failing fsu or not? It's getting old keeping a trickle charger on it all night!

Fan staying on plus dead battery equals FSU. (Most likely.)

There's a difference between the HVAC running continously or erratically vs the small air sampling fan inside the IHKA control panel.

The sampling fan & gear shift light is a much discussed topic and they both stay on for upto 16 minutes, then turn off if no calls are made on the P-bus. The car will go to sleep and both will turn off. But if a door handle is lifted or doors unlocked with key, then the car stays awake and the sampling fan continues to run & gear shift light stays on.
