When can F31's be ordered?

Does anyone know when BMW will take orders for a European delivery of the F31's? I cannot seem to get definitive answers from the dealer. The info keeps shifting.

gasser or diesel?
Contact one of the many dealers on this board who specialize in ED and they'll hook you up.

Thanks. I am trying to decide which would be better. Do you know which diesel engine they will use?

Almost certainly the 2.0L, auto tranny only. And there are rumors it will be xDrive only with the diesel.

There will be a short model year 2013 for 328xiT, starting in April. In September, for MY2014, we'll get 328xdT and 328xiT.

I believe RWD F31 will only happen if xDrives sell in sufficient numbers, and people keep asking their dealers and NA HQ for RWD.

I have had two E91's, an E61 and an E39 touring. I just put a hold on a 2014 328i xdrive touring with a late March production slot yesterday. Current spec is Estoril Blue MSport with Black Dakotoa interior, options and packages are still amendable for at least a couple of weeks.

SOP in March will be 2014 models. There will be no 2013 models in the touring so there is no short 2013 production run as others have said. I am OK with the xdrive only option given where I live and that winters can be cold with big snowfalls.

I have lined up a test drive this weekend for a similarly equipped 328 xdrive sedan as I am sure handling and power will be quite close to the F31. My concern is coming from an F10 that I won't be happy with the interior room and the options in the F31.

If anyone wants the build options and package for the Candian F31's let me know and I will PM them to you.

You may want to try and argue with a BMW dealer:

I'll take the word of the BMW Canada Ordering Guide over the dealer even if it is Jon.

I wonder what the 0-60 time of the 2.0L diesel will be? I am not looking for high performance but a BMW should at least be fun.

Could be the difference between US and Canada.

It does appear to be a US/Canda difference then. In the US the 2013 328ix Wagon starts production in March 2013. This has been confirmed by multiple sources --- plus I have the official Model Year 2013 Pricing Guide in front of me.

I'd guess around 7 sec, based on 320d touring performance.

Not too bad. My Acura MDX is 7.78 sec and that is adequate for passing but does not light the world on fire. 7 sec might be a reasonable penalty for a greener car in 2013.

a diesel will tend to feel faster than its 0-60 times would indicate, due to the loads of torque. i've driven my mother-in-law's Audi A3 TDI extensively. its 0-60 time is around 8.9s, even slower than my E45 325i slushbox which is a pretty slow car... but it feels quite a bit peppier due to the loads of low end torque. i have a feeling a 7-sec BMW diesel will feel downright speedy. all the reviews in europe seem to indicate it's all the motor you need - i mean, many UK/EU journalists consider the F11 520d one of the best all-around cars on the road, and that's considerably bigger and heavier than a F31.

downside of diesel is the slight roughness at idle and less racy note at higher revs, but then the N20 has that problem too...

still peeved at the specter of a touring with xDrive only... not getting over it.

Here you go. I figured this would have been posted in the Ask-A-Dealer forum by now.

Jon@Bimmerfest just posted in the Ask-A-Dealer forum that we're still 5 months from seeing the F31 in the US despite his earlier comment that we'd see it sooner. Maybe I misunderstood him, but I hope this price list is the definitive answer (which states MY2013 production beginning in March).

They showed the 328d at the Montreal Show. Canada historically has a higher demand than the US. I'd be quite surprised if it is not available in Canada this year.

Galt Thanks for posting it. Can't imagine it will take 5 months for the F31 to arrive in the US given the fact they're being produced and available for delivery in Europe.

If as a 328d it continues to have the same power & performance as the european 320d model (as it uses the same engine) -- and I've heard nothing from BMW officially to state that will not be the case, and what I've seen of of canadian model from the car show is that this will be the case -- that is rated at 7.6 sec to 100km/hr for the auto. Basis, this (the heavier wagon version of the 320d):

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle...ata/index.html (change to the 320d)

That is about 62mph, and can incur a shift delay if the car is geared to upshift at 60 or 61mph. Only say this to point out on rare [very rare] occasion 0-60 USA can be a good few tenths of a second quicker than 0-62mph/0-100kph EU.

I still hold hope however that in the US the 328d will get more boost added and its performance will come close to the 330d in the EU, which is rated at 5.6 sec 0-100kph. Which needless to say would be da'bomb!
