How much do you pay for insurance?
I am just a little curious as to how much people are paying for their insurance.
I am 17, clean record, and I have to pay $1400 every 6 months for a 2011 328Xi...

335x, clean[knock on wood] (although I nailed someone a long time ago and I'm sure even though its passed hurting me they've got it on file), maxed out coverage on everything, 1200 deductible for crash, 200 for comp.
I pay 750 every 6. in my early 20s. |

$600 every six months for full coverage with $1K deductible, road side assistance, uninsured motorist, glass coverage, along with $500K liability (higher than the state minimum requirement). This is on a 2007 X5, clean driving record.

$902/yr for a 2009 335xi with full collision and comprehensive, $500 deductible, $250k/$500k liability with a $2kk umbrella. Identical coverage on my wife's 2011 Subaru Outback is $542, and the same on our 23-year-old daughter's 2004 VW Passat 4mo is $506. All of us have identical driving records and full safe driver credits.
The replacement values and repair cost categories of the cars are the drivers of the overall rates. Our daughter came off "new driver" status a year or so ago. A single at-fault accident where the insurance company pays out more than $500 will remove the safe driver credit and add violation points to any one of us, bumping the cost for that person up by about $500/yr for 5 years.

I'm 23. I pay $111/month for my '07 328i. $500 deductible for collision repair, and I'm covered for theft, vandalism, medical expenses for myself and other drivers involved, damage to other vehicles, hail damage, collision with animals, and a few other bells and whistles - unfortunately I'm not looking at my insurance plan this second so I can't tell you EXACT deductibles for each. But I'd say my coverage is pretty good for the price, USAA is outstanding when it comes to car insurance.

Pays to be old! 40, nothing on my record (not for lack of trying!) $650 a year in the Boston area, full coverage, $300 deductible on collision, zero deductible on glass!

Hmm... so I am not overpaying too much... I wonder if my insurance would go down or up in a v8 Mustang.... My dad is 50 and he pays $400 a year, but he drives a frickin Prius, so its cheap to insure! I wonder if there is any way to get mine under 1k, or even to $1250 every 1/2 year.... Any suggestions?

That seems incredibly cheap. I'm almost double your age and pay more than that.

That's true in most states, but actually due to restrictions in MA, your age has no impact on insurance premiums except for a mandatory discount for drivers 65+, but they do rate on years licensed... but that phases in fully by about 5-6 years. So you are essentially paying the same now as you would if you were 25 with the same car/coverages..

$116/mo. Im 23, with a few speeding tickets, $150 deduct, full coverage, $1500/30day rentals insurance, and uninsured motorists. Why is mine so cheap, I really have no idea, but not complaining one bit.

Gotcha, what are the limits on medical and comprehensive? Usually that's the biggest cost on a premium. I have $100k/300k

How are you guys getting such cheap rates at young ages. My wife an I are in our 50s and we pay much higher rates with no claims. What company are you guys with? We are with State Farm.
