95 m3
Can anyone tell me what ECU is used for the 95 m3? As in the number sequence and color label if that matters. I just put a rebuilt s50 in my M but I don't seem to he the right ECU. The car kicks and kicks but won't turn over. So I'm guessing its not able to find #1. I currently have a red 413 ECU. Am i correct to say that that is for the e36s and not the m3

I have a silver 413. Production date 9/95. Silver label 413 post 12/94 production. A silver label 413 chip will not work in a 506 or red label 413.

There was more than one ECU used in the 95.
I only know, because you have to buy the proper chip for the ECU in your car. It seems it may be related to build date. Turner Motorsport wants to know whether you car was build before or after 12/1994. Not sure what happens if was actually built during that month.

Oh yeah, IIRC M3 only came with 506 and silver label 413.

I'm confuse now. So you put in a different rebuilt S50 with a red DME into your car but you have a silver 413 at hand too? Try using the silver one and see how that works?

I blew the original and put a rebuilt s50 in the ECU that came with the new motor the old mechanic jacked. With either ECU the red or silver(from original motor) it just cranks. I'm told because its not reading #1 so I need a chip, what I don't if the chip that was in the silver was an ews2 delete or just a performance mod. My car production date is 4/95 meaning it does have the EWS2 system.

Open the silver one and look at what chip is inside it.

There is no chip anymore it was taken.that why I'm in the predicament I'm in . All I need to know is if this silver label is for productions days after 12/94 if it is after then I know I need a m3 chip, if its before then I need the EWS delete mod chip, can I tell what year the ECU goes to by the labels on it?

Anything after 12/94 is silver label irrc.

So then if its for an ews2 car then I don't need the delete mod for the EWS I just need to use a scanner and link the EWS module with the ECU right

Yes. I think only the dealer can realign the DME. Don't quote me on that though.
