97 z3 power seats in- op

97 z3 powerseats move back and forth but no up and down angle movement. seems like something froze up and just keeps clicking. any ideas?

Do you hear the motors running and a clicking sound? If so you might have broken or stripped the drive pin between the motor and the gearbox. Put you hand under the seat on the motor that drives the up/down mechanism and push the button, you should be able to feel the motor running and if you also feel an abnormal vibration it may help you pin point your problem.

I have a 03 Z4 and just had to do a seat repair. On mine a bull gear in the gearbox was stripped. I could hear the motor running but no seat movement.

moves back and forth fine. just a click in the up and down motion like the pivot points are froze up. not the switch for sure

You have to check if the motor is working by connecting it to a car battery, if working, then the fault could be with the moving parts, that is the long screw, it can rust and lock it self, so the seat have to come out, clean all the moving parts with a metal brush and 40 wrench liquid and lubricate with lithium grease

thanks guys. this car has been a nightmare from replacing the motor to window,4 way, driving,asc, switches, heatlight bulbs . Starting to think it was a catrina victim as i dont know the history. thanks for the help
