Do the FMIC if funds permit 1st. Pass it by your SA if still under warranty to avoid surprises later on, if out of warrant - no worries.

Since you're not on the Dinan plan anymore, do the Helix, it seems to be well regarded.

I'm glad to hear that you're happy with the Cobb tune. I personally have it as well in my 335i and it's not only one of my favorite mods, but it's my favorite tune that I've tried on the car! The next step would be the FMIC so that you can run the stage 1+ maps. Although an intake an exhaust isn't required, it is suggested esp. if you're planning to some of the higher performance maps available.

I'd have bought it from you guys but I'm a chepo and need coupons (says the guy that spent 1200 on stage 1)

Let me know what kind of FMICs you have I just ordered the drop in filter from BMS, I'm going to do my first attempt under the hood changing the air filter !!! I think I'll be ready to rebuild my engine once I figure out the air filter

BMS drop in sounds nice

So just wanted to give you guys a quick update. I took a pic the day before I stuck the cobb on to kind of get a comparo to what the Stage 1 ran over the course of driving. So last night I snapped another of my Cobb and its kinda crazy given the vast power difference how close (and I'd say better because I'm driving more spirited with the cobb than with the Dinan)

So here is the Dinan:



21.9 MPGs @ 36.5 mph over 1831 miles


AND NOW THE COBB



21.0 MPGs @ 38mph over 1382 miles

I've dropped from the 24-29mpg ranges I'd been on stock. But I have no doubt I could bump it to 21-26 if I laid back on the spirited trials I've been doing (something I didn't get the feeling from the way throttle response was on the dinan) . This was also Stage 1 aggressive map

Actually tuned cars do pretty well. This is all inside Raleigh City limits with a high number of "its still new" pulls Current MPG at 17K miles is up 1 or 2. Had dynode 365whp at the time.

On the plus side I just got to see a cobb wrx in action (the guy actually had the ap docked on his dash and cobb stickers near the wheel well ) he still got destroyed

Longboarder's supercharged M3 -- Won by 2 cars from 50mph and 1 from 40mph.
SRanch335 RB turbo 335 -- Won by 2 cars+, and almost got wiped out by a plane on the return road.

Both toyed with me, like I toy with some guy with a 95 civic who just got his muffler from autozone and thinks his car is fast

The stock exhaust on the 458 is amazing.

Terry's car is quite a bit at the other end of the tuning progression from ours.

So I just went back to stock... Basically uninstall was a breeze and actually quicker than the first time I started at 5pm and am done .

Why did you go back to stock for the IC and suspension work? Not going into to BMW are you?

Yep I would have only saved about $970 bucks going elsewhere (maybe more or less if I really shopped it around) so I figured the dealer goodwill on decent sized purchase like that is along with 2 years of unlimited milage coverage is worth that. I'd have just blown it at Nemian Marcus anyway.

Now I don't have to worry about who to complain too if there is a boost leak or something! Can't wait to run the Cobb FMIC map next week

Oh, it's a Dinan, now it makes sense to why you returned to stock levels and doing the work at BMW.
Yeah, I'm hoping they will play well together(Dinan/Cobb), as in when my 4yr/50K is up...the AP might be a strong consideration.

Oh man I've never been to that site! Does it count towards the incircle points!

I still have ways to go if I want to keep my level 4.


Oh and actually on the topic of cars.... It is hilariously slow going back to stock. I've been reading around and apparently the Stage 1 FMIC map will make a NOTICEABLE gain even over the stage1 aggressive map.
