Rear LED Turn Signal Indicator

The rear LED turn signal indicator on my wife's 09 328i started malfunctioning back in March. We took the car in for service in April and they said the board would have to be replaced and they would have to order the part. June rolls around with no call and it's time for my M3's oil service so I schedule my service and ask if the part for 328i is in. SA says yes so we take both cars in the 3rd week of June. They complete my M3 service the day of drop off but they couldn't get to her car. The next day, same story. Finally, the 3rd day they look at it and realize they ordered the wrong part. So they say they will order the correct part. They still have our car.

Five days later, SA calls and tells me the part has to come from Germany and is on back order and may be a few weeks so we take our car back, still not repaired. 4 weeks later, the part still isn't in. Anyone else experiencing a wait for a rear LED turn signal board? It's been over 3 months since we first took the car in for this issue.

Yes. They were charging $20 for a loaner but SA told me they don't charge anymore after all the complaints they received.

Odd since LED bulbs should last longer and should have less problems than regular bulbs.

Yeh, I don't understand it either. Car is only 1 year old. They picked it up again today and are working on it. Hopefully, it will be fixed tomorrow. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem since the SA stated the part was back ordered, which I took to mean alot were failing and manufacturing wasn't keeping up with the demand.

Mine just started malfunctioning today. I'm taking it in tomorrow. The mechanic said it was a quick fix. I guess I'll see.....

I took it to the dealer and was told the whole turn signal assembly needs to be replaced $400.00.

I have a 07, 335 I, dont know if the rear lights are the same, but over christmas my brother in law and nephew were messing around and put a nice football size dent in the drivers rear pannel, dent wizzard could get to it, cause its a convertible, but long story short, the body shop, they pulled the light, outboard one in the rear quarter pannel and must have dropped it cause the LED driving lights quit working, purchased a new one from BMW parts of Atlanta at 250 bucks and got it in 3 days

I seriously doubt it takes that long to get a part from BMW, you should call another BMW shop get the price and delivery if, they have it confront the dealer and tell them where they can get it and they can have it over night. sounds as if they dont care about service there

I just checked and the 328i coupe and convertible, its not the same part but looks the same, and FYI I took my old tail lamp assembly apart, with a cutting wheel because you cannot get to the LED driving lamps, its a sealed, but if you are talking about turn signal lights that could be a different story but they show no circuit board part.
