The 1988 3 Series was my father's car that he drove when he went out of state and I got that when i turned 16, blew a transmission line (or something like that) and the car got parked at my grandfathers. My mother bought me the Beetle, the Blazer was my grandfathers, the hyundai accent I paid for along with the rx-7 with the help of a ex-boyfriend. The 1999 Jetta was my husband's and he gave that to me for school until we bought the Versa, traded that for the Scion, then bought the Range Rover as a second vehicle...that broke down so we sold it then financed the GLI, and just traded the Scion for the 545i. It's possible.

My list, just like everyone else's, takes me down memory lane. Some of those memories are very good; some not so good. At any rate, it's nice to reminisce about previous cars and the times that corresponded with the cars

Geez some of you guys are crazy - my list is simple and consists of only 3 cars since college.

1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee - first car out of college (2006). I bought it for 24 miller lites. It died about a year later and I decided to go the BMW route.

2004 BMW 530i - Bought in 2007 for more than 24 miller lites. Still drives like champ, but is next on chopping block.

2010 Lexus RX350 - As if an engagement ring and paying for a wedding wasn't enough, the [then] fiancee was given this vehicle 2 weeks before we got married in Sept of 2012.

2015 BMW 435i Euro Delivery - Wife agrees that husband is awesome and saving/planning is underway to celebrate 2nd wedding anniversary in Sept of 2014 in Munich to and take delivery of a new BMW. Planning on hanging around through late September to experience the less "touristy" Oktoberfest.

Just remember that the fewer cars you have owned, the less money you have spent (generally speaking).

Every car I've owned, sold, or bought I have paid sales tax buying, transfer fees, extra fees to get it newly inspected/registered to me.

Frequently I've also bought well used cars, so I paid alot on straightening them out when first buying them.

Now if I actually were to keep my 2001 m5 for 5 years, I'd come out great. But that's not what my list of cars in the past 10 years indicates is likely...

'69 VW beetle - Reliable car but SLOW
'82 VW Rabbit - Reliable, fun car that I wish I still had.
Both cars shared with brothers and sisters and eventually totalled by said brothers and sisters

1990 VW Jetta - Owned for 6 yrs; unbelievebly unreliable car
1988 Saab 900 - Owned for 3 yrs and built like a tank. wish I still had it
1997 Nissan Sentra - Owned for 2 years. No stories but nothing exciting either
1999 Jeep cherokee Sport - Owned for 5 years without a single problem. Interior like a little tikes car though
2001 Subaru Legacy - Owned for 4 yrs and blew a Main seal at 70K miles. I disliked this car from the get-go. Squishy suspension and underpowered.
2006 Volvo S40, T5 - Owned for 2 years - Pretty fun little car.
2007 BMW 328xi coupe - Owned for 3 years - AWESOME car, no problems

Current:
2005 545i - owned for 3 years; Great all around car and my favorite car to date; but (surprise) very expensive to maintain.
1983 Porsche 944 NA - owned for 4 yrs. Very well built and handles amazingly well.

I have the Sports Auto Trans, don't regret it one bit. I love a manual, but in L.A. traffic it SUCKS to have one. SAT is a good compromise.
