Aux IPOD kit Install 2006 Z4

Looking at installing the Ashtray style Radio Auxiliary kit (part number 82 11 0 142 174 ) to play my newly aquired IPOD.....It sounds like a simple plug and play set up, apart from the stress of removing the air vents.....My question is, will the fact that I have the factory fitted CD changer fitted together with factory fitted Blue tooth effect the simplicity of plug in and play or is there a load of wire splicing to be done?. ......Thanks in advance.

Buy the much cheaper E46 aux-in from South Motors on Amazon and ask them for instructions for the Z4 plug. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o04_s00_i00

That's what I did. I'd post the pdf of the z4 plug connector but I can't find it on my PC. You remove the pins from the aux-in plug and reinsert into them into the existing connector on the back of the radio (at least for my unit with Nav). I just drilled a hole for the plug in the panel under the dash where the aux-in is located on 2007 & later Z4s.

Welcome to Bimmerfest!

As a newbie you should acquaint yourself with the Search function, found on one of the bars above. Also, and I hate to say it, be aware that there is far more info for Z cars on Zpost than on Bimmerfest.

Short answer to your question is no, having the CD changer and the factory Bluetooth will not affect the simplicity of your plug and play although you may have to pull some pins and re-insert them in the existing connector. The ashtray adapter is a rather poor implementation though because you have to give up your 12V port, so it's probably better to just drill a hole in the center dash trim below the radio for the AUX input jack. The AUX input for the Mini is even cheaper than the E46 AUX input and they're exactly the same thing.
