Wires in trunk ? ? ?
In the trunk, if you lift the cover over the battery, there is a little plug with a red & blue wire sticking out of the side of the car right above the battery. It isn't plugged into anything on my car. I am wondering what it is. It isn't for the gas door locks since they still work when I lock and unlock the car. UNLESS maybe there was an option for other models of my car that have a gas door release button in the car. I have a 2005 325Ci convertible. I just happened to look at the battery today when the car gave me some trouble starting and noticed the plug... Just wondering what it is & if maybe it should be pluged into another wire that fell somewhere out of my reach. .

BMWs are pre-wired for any number of accessories, which your car may or may not have....

The wire is a vestige of when your car was born. Used to check the state of the battery during transit. It you look under the rear seat you'll find the other end of it that was once hooked to a small flashing led.

That's what I was thinking Bob... and Raider, I will definitly look under my rear seat tomorrow...It does look like it was made to plug into the battery, but I just don't see where.

Yeah, Raider`s right....I forgot about that little detail. They want to know if the cars will start when it`s time to offload them from the boats, so they put a small battery indicator in the rear window.

It was a battery disconnect switch.
