F31 M sports seats
Is it really impossible to get the M Sports Package in the U.S. with the cloth/Alcantara seats? These just seem so superior to leather and leatherette, and it would be a simple option to offer. Does it make a difference if it's an ED?
Nothing makes me more resistant to owning a BMW than those acres of smooth leather(ette). I can't be the only American who feels this way. |

I don't think you are alone in this (I myself do like leather, Dakota less so than Nappa)... but as far as I know even for ED uou have to order a US spec car, so I don't think you can do cloth/alcántara...

You're not alone but when cloth was offered the take rates were horrible. It is one of those things that a lot of people talk about wanting but not a lot end up ordering. Either they buy off the lot or their spouse doesn't want cloth, or a thousand other things.
ED cars are still ordered to US spec so that won't help. Tim |

I can envision two problems with your suggestion:
1. Supply chain logistics. BMW doesn't want to stock replacement parts for an option very few folks take. 2. Resale. Your dealer doesn't want to have a cloth interior sitting on his used car lot for 3 months, and BMWFS doesn't want to be stuck with sending one to Mannheim. And I wouldn't be surprised if the cloth seats would need to be certified in Gommint crash testing.
