I really just cant with benzs. Had my first bimmer when I was 2 years old, E30 pedal car; Got brought home from the hospital in an E30 after I was born, learned to drive on an E38, first car was an E34, ive had an X3, the E28, getting an E90 and the thought of a benzo has literally never crossed my mind, if for sheer loyalty and unsupported preference. Blue and white roundel until my last breath.

Thats kind of why I like the older ones.
Any owner holding on to a 140 body S500 coupe today is probably a enthusiast.
Or the car is beat to crap.
your right. Benz owners arent like BMW owners in that, although people buy BMW for the badge, its even worse for Mercs, and because of the price of parts etc usually not very well maintained.

I didn't. He came over there and the name was familiar.
Don't know why he can't just leave well enough alone.
I know he means well but seriously.

Oh come on now, one is no better than the other in terms of silly badge loyalty. First and second owners usually take good care in my experience. After that I think many time the penny pinching ensues, regardless of brand.

I have found more well maintained used mercs than bm's. The young kids (no offense) get ahold of the sporty bmw's and things go all bobby baghead quickly. They tend to be afraid of the mercs. Choose the right merc though, or pay the consequences, there are some really expensive to maintain models for sure.

I just posted a couple brief warnings over there. I have NO desire to go back to that.

I agree with all of this. we could have a whole sticky on Bimmers v Benzos but i think you guys sunmmed it up pretty good.

One last hurrah for the bimmers, i'm sure we've all seen this episode...
Season 17, Episode 3 if you'd like to watch it Top Gear UK.

The challenge was for Jezza and the hamster to find the cheapest new cars, luxo-liners/sports cars. Hamster got an 850CSi and Jezza, of course, a CL600. They both did the same in the challenges, the M70 didnt hold its ponies like the benz but whatever, they finished close to each other. (the bimmer is 17 years old and the benzo 9 btw). They had to daily drive the cars for a period of time and see which was cheaper. The 850 did splendidly, and clarkson had to replace a coil pack for a 4-digit bill. Bimmer FTW.

Nice word play sir.

No need to warn them over there. It's natural selection. They'll weed him out of there quickly.

They just started a showing a new season. It does get old though see the same episodes. I love top gear but bbc is driving into the ground. I really like 5th gear too. It comes on velocity sometimes.

anybody watch the Daytona 500? during thw whole race i thought Danica was going to do better than 8th, she was constantly in 3rd or second. Only after pits did she drop sown to 8th/9th. Somebody needs a crew upgrade.

They have some road course events. Obviously its not a sprint cup series but none the less.

Danica has an advantage in weight but she always starts great but can never finish strong.
I lived near Sears Point in Sonoma, CA. It's a really nice road course.
I do wish they would drive more road courses.
Also after watching Aussie V8 racing, I think it would be better to have heats instead of long a$$ races.
