Looks great, Nice car.

I'd recommend you go over the the M board. Those guys are very helpful and know about the special needs/issues for an M6 and can answer specific M6 questions.

Here's a link.

Nice! Four owners is odd for this car, but it looks great and seems to have been taken care of.

Not a traditional stick, but a manual trans with an automated clutch (no clutch pedal). A little tricky to drive smoothly but faster shifting than a regular trans.

60k miles on an 07 and four owners? 15k miles and 18 months on average per owner is just a lot...or a little. I guess a V10 vert is a weekend car that doesn't get miles, but that seems like a lot of turn over for a 6 year old car.

Realy, it doesn't mean a thing. A car can have one crappy owner and not be maintained well or four great owners that do everything needed on time. But the more people involved, the greater the chance for a slug in the bunch.

One of your owners was great about dealer service. One never drove it (which could be good or bad), etc...
You know it was a CPO car not long ago, which is a bonus.

This is an amazing car. It's not a typical 6er, the M6 is a whole different animal.

From the pictures I'm not certain that it's an SMG but you really have to ask at the M6 forum! The ad says Auto trans.

If it is an SMG there are a number of issues that you need to have checked carefully regarding the clutch and solenoids, especially at that mileage.

These are some M owners in that area that may be able to help.

You MUST have a dealer pull the service history on it.

Also you can get an after market warranty, but only some companies sell them for the M series.

It's a fantastic machine but be cautious an know what you are buying before you go into it.

That car is SMG, the text in the description is wrong. (another example of a car dealer having zero clue about the product they are selling) Make sure you test drive the SMG before you decide to go for a car with that transmission. It's a manual gearbox shifted automatically using hydraulics. It is nowhere near as smooth as a standard auto or dual clutch gearbox, especially if you expect to drive it like an automatic.

With SMG, smooth shifting takes some work - a slight lift during changes and you have to time the lift properly - it becomes 2nd nature after a while.

The M6 is very fast so you should have no issues with the power, it will smoke a 996 turbo but the 997 turbo is a bit faster. (stock cars)

Yorgi is correct, paddle shifters on the wheel = SMG (or a crazy retro-fit).

Gary has a good point as well. The M5 board will give you more specific things to look for on the SMG and the S85, V10 motor that comes with the M6. For the most part we all have the N62 V8.

Actually I've seen many auto trans BMWs with the paddle shifters. My wife hates them and when we got her car she turned down a good deal on one that had them.

I was mainly basing the fact it's an SMG based on the main shifter. This is what a manual stick looks like:

Yorgi, Is that your 6? Nice one if it is.

I was just making the point that paddle shifters are in Automatics too.

I'm really not sure why though

Nope, that is a random M6 I found using google. My 650 is black interior on Monaco Blue. I wish I had something like a cinnamon brown interior but sometimes you get what you get when buying used.

This is true, sometimes you gotta go with what you can get! My 6 is jet black with black interior, I had found a CPO car before the one I bought at the other dealer in town. It had a beautiful red interior and was jet black convertible. The Wifey was not so thrilled with the red, but I really liked it. She would have gotten used to it, I know, so I tried to drive the deal to a close...

The only problem was the dealer would not come down on the price, so I passed on that one. Fortunately for me, I ended up buying a car same year with 20k less miles, more options (Comfort Access, Satellite, HD Radio), and good 10% less in price ($4k) than the other dealer. I do love my triple black so I can't complain.

You're lucky to have a 6MT.

The car looks great, actually the same as mine except mine is an '08. Like Yorgi said once you get the hang of the SMG it is that bad and becomes very smooth. Just be ready for the gas mileage, that may be the reason for the frequent turnover in ownership. Mine is driven mostly weekend or nice sunny days, but I tell you it is one Bad MF!!!!
