Can't make the lower radiator hose connection

I am replacing the lower radiator hose. Took a lot of effort to get the lower connection off and now I have not been unable to get the new one on. Upper connection snapped on without to much effort. I think the mating surfaces of the plastic coupling are to tight. Has anyone else ever run into this and if so, found a solution(other than asking Buba to put it on).

Put a small amount of plumber silicon or o-ring lubricate on the o-ring, then push on.. DO NOT attempt to modify the coupling to make it easier. It WILL leak if you do..

Thanks for the reply Shipkiller. I did lub the oring with coolant and I think I can feel it engage okay. I just can't move the coupling the last few millimeters to engage the retaining clip. I will lub the mating surfaces on the couplings with the silicon and give it another shot. Thanks for the warning about modifying the couplings. That was being considered.

Got the coupling on. The silicone lub and a little leveraging on the back of the coupling did the trick.
