Just got my second BMW......2004 745i with 103, 000

When I come to a stop I noticed a push as I begin to stop. Is that a sign of the transmission giving out

Your problem Can be related to numerous things.
Example:
1. It could just be something as simple as software updates, (which I highly doubt).
2. Time for trans flush/filter change.
3. Transmission adaption reset.
4. solenoid pack.
5. Valve body.
6. Guibo/Flex disk.
7. Or time for a new transmission (In most cases) according to the dealers.

This problem is very hard to diagnose. Your best option is to either have a good Indy you trust look at it or if you can find a ZF specialist then try that. I will say this, in most cases some people have had the transmission completely change to solve this problems others have not. Some even just learn to live with it. Best of luck though.

Most the time when this happens and people change their mechatronics sleeve and adapter with a tranny oil change and then they fall back in love with the car If its 1-2 and 2-1 shifting good chance its mech gasket.
Still get the flex disks, software versions and etcetera checked also.

+1 totally agree, especially if this is first occurrence with tranny issues.

Mechtronic sleeve an adapter has nothing to do with the harsh down shifting or up shifting. It will only cause your car not to go into gear at ALL, until the transmission has warmed up the the seal has expanded, an keeping fluids in.

If I ever trade. sell. or buy a BMW again, it wouldnt be under an '07.
From what I've read, most of the major issues spoken of in this forum seems to have been addressed or either arent as common.

I could be wrong but just an idea. Prices may vary where you live. Shop on line for parts an stay away from the obvious (dealers).

Mechtronic sleeve an adapter should cost around $40.00 in parts an $150 -$250.00 in labor.

Transmission flush should cost around $400 - $600 depending on what oil you use(I think 6.5 quartz could be wrong) maybe $7.00 a quartz x(7) $49.00 plus the filter an pan comes as one $110.00 if you shop on line ($450.00 at dealer) an labor around $250.00.

Guibo/Flex disk around $40.00 for the part an $200.00 labor.

Software updates $200.00

Solenoid pack $600 not sure on labor

valve body $2500 not sure on labor.

Now I can be wrong on some of this. You can save a lot of money if you are a DIY'er. Shop around for parts an stay a way from the obvious (dealers).
