To all you ski and snowboard hounds out there

I discovered a cool app. It definitely makes the trip to the mountains a bit more interesting.

Tried it for the first time yesterday after only 4 hours of sleep (I had to work the night before until 0200). I think I did pretty well considering:

BTW, the name of the app is "Ski Tracks". There are two versions, a free one and one that costs .99. I got the latter one because it offers more (i.e. you can store infinite amount of runs, iirc).

I noticed that it does use a bit more battery power, probably because it keeps monitoring your progress up on the slopes.

My son was trying to break 70. Hit 69.8.

I was impressed.... that is damn fast on 'not downhill' skis.

(He races, lest you think it overly reckless)

Yeah, that max speed I posted isn't that impressive. I only had four hours of sleep and was pretty much putzing around the mountain the whole time.

I need to use longer (i.e. more stable) sticks if I'm to go any faster comfortably....

I love tracking while on the hills. You really don't feel like you're going that fast, either (although I might pee a bit if I hit 70!). But you don't need a dedicated ski app, I usually end up using one of those runner apps, but I always look for one that has elevation control. I'll have to look for this one, though.

Yeah, I suppose most of these apps operate the same way, although this is my first "tracking" app.

Most large resorts have the own apps and some of them are really great. I was in JH last year and Whistler last month and both resorts have excellent apps. They give you weather info, grooming reports, and track all of your runs.
