Question about 22 inch wheels and adjustment?

Good day, I recently had purchased some wheels, Pics coming soon, but the size are 22 inch, 22x9.5 and 22x10.5 when installing should the springs be upgraded or shocks asking because when they put them on, they had the vehicle raised and it seemed like the back tire was going to rub up against the inside back wall or the inside lip after putting on and the car lowered it seems to be fine, wasn't sure if i needed to changed anything before putting bigger wheels on, thanks for any help or info i need?

less rubber less smooth. Unless the shocks are shot changing them wont do much, lowering springs will make it ride worse.

@marshalpaul, are those chrome or silver? your car is the same color as mine and i like the finish on those rims. will be getting some rims once the weather warms back up out here and that finish is what i'd like.

If you get the 295/25ZR22 then it's not going to rub at all you'll be fine

Bro mine isn't lowered it looks low but it's not but I have Pirelli tires extra load that are 265/30ZR22 in the front and the rear are 295/25ZR22 and they don't rub I know it's a bit pricey but they look and work great they get a better grip then the other tires I've gotten before and I don't use spacers and ill let you know later the dimensions of my rims and my lip on the rear ones when I get a chance

If its almost touching the inside then you shouldn't put spacers because then it'll hit the fender

Yeah I know what you mean but how does it sit when you put it on does it hit the shock and it looks tucked in that you can't see the tire or you can see it ?

Knocking noise

Good day Bimmers, so i been driving the ride with the wheels and on the back right end i hear a knocking noise coming from the wheel, nothing wrong with the wheel itself or tire, i had it alinment done twice at NTB, i should NorthHouston Beemer do it, but they didn't see anything so i called my buddy Alex at the BMW shop he said on those 03 models putting bigger wheels and tires might throw the suspension off he said it could be , tie-rods, bushings, stabilizer bar, suspension ball joints or control arm and ball joints, but i can feel every bump it's annoying when I had 19 the ride was smooth, i find myself drving very slow over bumps but I will bring it to my BMW shop in a few days, this is how the back tire and wheel looks i may add some spacers need some advice what to look out for, thanks Bimmers

Man, I cant stand driving the car now, i feel every bump, I may have to upgrade on tires but need to know which ones would be good, i need more meat on tires, houston texas roads can be a beast, I have now 245-30-22 front and 295-25zr-22 with wheels have a bolt pattern of 5x120 with a offset of +35 in front and +50 Rear, any suggestions, I may end up just taking them off if I cant resolve this, the shop I go to said shocks struts look fine, but stated I need some spacers on it.

Spacers wont solve your issue. the larger the wheel, the less tire you gonna have to clear the wheel-well.
The only thing you can do is reduce your wheel size so you can increase your tire size and get back the comfort you were looking for.

Ok here is a little knowledge on wheels replacement. Your stock, sometimes ugly as can be; the manufacture put a little taught into it. The weight and overall diameter has alot to do with the vehicle gearing and rotating mass (brakes, transmission etc). so when you are decidin gon wheels it is best to know the overall weight, height and width of the stock one.
The 7 series BMW has a height of 27.8, that is the front and rear height, the weight with tires is approx. 32lbs on front, rear i cant remember off hand. you need to look into wheels that are lighter than stock and with tires the same overall height. With your tire selection you can go up from a 245 to possibility a 255 onthe front and the rear to a 305 which will give yo more air volume which might soften the ride.

With the 22's with 25 series tire on the rear and 30 series on the front, your tires are VERY thin and there is not much of a cushion to absorb bumps, and other things on the road. Your shocks help a LOT, but the tires do as well!

If you want a softer ride, you can upgrade to a 30 series on the rear and a 35 on the front, however you will need to go down in width a bit to ensure they fit and are within 3% of the diameter.

Other things you can consider:
1. Get a tire with a softer sidewall, but more risk of bending a wheel.
2. Get softer springs and shocks to help with the rough ride
3. Get smaller wheels so you can have a larger sidewall that can absorb more of the bumps and stuff.

If you need help figuring out how large you can go with your tires, use the 1010tire.com tire size calculator. Put 245/45/19 as the stock diameter and then change the parameters to get as close as you can with 22's.
