6 Series
The BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations. |

Navigation disc slot
This is crazy, I thought I did not have the dvd map for my 6r so my dealer went on and got me one, when I tried to put it in it wouldn't go in so since I'm not too familiar with the car I'm thinking that I need to push it a lil hard when I did that it still didn't wanna go in so my instinct kick in, I said to my self there's no way BMW will make this so damn hard to deal with so I pull the dvd back when I did that another navigation disc slightly comes out so I pulled it all the way out, and I tried to put the dvd back in after I took out the other one still no luck I tried the eject button nothing. So I'm thinking I probably have at least 2 more disc in there so my question is is there a way I can remove them without really do too much like take the dash down n stuff?

I doubt that you have more than one disc in the slot!! You would really have to slam the disc in to do that !!!!! when you present the disc you only need to push in slightly and then the drive recognises the disc and it takes over running it into the slot! when the disc is removed it ejects to about 2/3rds of the disc.
If the last disc as you mentioned was ejected by the drive itself then I would say as above you only had one in!!!! You could also try an Idrive reset, there is a thread for this!!!!

I think there is a thread about jammed discs, and how to release, sorry but I cannot remember the exact period, it may also have been on the E60 forum!!! I will attempt to find it if I can, you are definitely not the first to suffer this !!!!!

When the IDrive boots up, are you getting a Nav disc not installed? Is the disc that you got removed, east coast or west coast?

I got this before and luckily it was before my factory warranty is out. My problem was, I took out the disc, put in the 2012 disc. It couldn't read so I took it out again and never be able to put it in again.
I remember a guy at Al&Ed told me that he has to remove the trim then take the dvd drive out. Then it's pretty much similar way to the normal PC thin DVD drive.

This is good as the DVD recognises that the slot is empty (so no multiple discs jammed in) it also means there is power to the DVD. Just out of interest have you tried any other CD into the slot, not the NAV DVD!!! Present the disc gently as I found that if you push to hard you come across a stop, the drive itself does not make a lot of noise until it is hunting on a disc!!!

The CD player above the DVD slot works as soon as I put a cd it takes it the DVD slot is not doing that. It doesn't "swallow" the cd or DVD like the cd slot on top of it...

I saw this message once when I put my west coast disc in by mistake. It just sat there & did nothing. This happened on my 7 series when updating my disc. At least it sounds like the DVD has power.
Good Luck |

Never shove a disc in, if it doesn't just slide in, auto take in actually, there's already a problem. If you didn't mess up the drive, try a reset, otherwise it's probably spent.
