Mein Auto: xDrive28i...coming soon
Welcome to the waiting club...

Hoping to pick mine up a week from today. My X1 was driven off the boat in NJ yesterday. Ordered on 1/13 and I never thought I'd get through 6 weeks. Weeks of ship tracking and phone calls to get updates, lol. Almost there...

Ordered ours 2 weeks ago. They said production was allocated for week 8 which is next week. Hope to have it before the end of March.

Ordering

Hi all-

I've never ordered a BMW, but planning on ordering an X1 in the conning weeks. How does it work exactly? Do you negotiate the final price at time of ordering? Is it hard to press for a good deal when ordering?

I've only ordered one myself. My experience was that we negotiated price prior to order and I paid about $300 more than what I would have paid had I driven off with the one on the lot. Probably could have driven that down a bit more, but felt the final price was very reasonable.

So I ordered my 2013 x1 on 2/5 for late March delivery. I rebuilt it as 2014 with the same options and it came out over $1000 less. I'm going to see if the dealer will let me switch to the 2014.

I. find it less expensive than ordering off the lot because you don't get the options that you do not want. You should also be getting $500-1000 over invoice when ordering. Otherwise go trough a board sponsor.

Done with production. Got the VIN. Waiting for vessel information. Any way to get it besides from the dealer?

Put the last 7 characters of your VIN in and then click track. Takes a few days to update.

Switched to 2014

My 2013 came off the production line yesterday BUT I just changed my order from the 2013 to an equivalently equipped 2014. That saved me just over $1k. They are putting my 2013 into stock. Not bad. Same options, less $ and one model year newer.

There are a few threads about tracking your car from production to delivery port. Just google search for the way to track.

Production takes about 10 days. You can go to bmwvin.com to see the date it rolls off the production line. I used the production date to estimate when it would arrive at Bremerhaven and then checked the vessel schedules to see what was leaving after the production date and heading to the port near me. Then a couple of days later I verified the vessel with the dealership. It was fun tracking it across the ocean through the Panama Canal and finally to California. That was a long 4 week voyage.

Where'd the $1k+ savings come from?

BMW changed around the prices and items contained in some of the option packages. A couple of the items are now included. Net savings was $1050.

Thanks. What is the typical time from production date to Bremerhaven?
