3 Series GT Starts production in July 2013 - Conjecture on Pricing?

My CA emailed me with great news today. Last night the BMW system updated and now shows that the 3 Series GT starts production in July. We have a 2014 X3 on order for wifey with production the week of April 1. I may cancel that and try to do a 3 Series GT using European Delivery on July 24. Does anyone have conjecture on pricing?

I would get the 3 GT over the X3. Judging from the pictures, it looks like it has more useable storage space and may handle better. I wonder where they are going to be assembled?

I never thought I could live with a GT after seeing the 5 GT, but this one has potential, I just need to see it in person and drive it to be sure if I will pass the X1 over for the GT. The base MSRP for the 3 GT is pretty high.

Switch to 3GT just so you can do ED.

EU 3GT is ~1500EUR over similar F31.

Thanks. Now, I am even more interested. I always want my German cars to be made in Germany.

Well if pricing is based on weight, there should be a significant price increase over the F30.

I would say at least $3 over similarly equipped F30 sport wagon - if for no other reason than it's bigger...

I'm driving a 2008 E61 (535) and the 2 reasons I would NOT consider the new F30 sport wagon is it's a bit too small and you can't get the N55 engine.

Would not consider a 5 GT, but this looks interesting...

We seriously considered the 3 GT. We also looked at the 3er Sport Wagon at the Chicago Auto Show. The best way to conceptualize the 3 GT is that the hieght of the 3 GT is exactly halfway between a 3 Series Sedan/Sport Wagon and the X3. The width of all 3 Bimmers is the same for all practical purposes. The 3 GT in many respects is halfway between the Sport Wagon and the X3 with more rear leg room. Because of our pressing need for a vehicle right away, we ordered a 2014 X3 for production the first week in April. Personally I believe that the 3 GT will be a very cool car that is both beautiful and utilitarian. I would really like to see one to judge if its height makes it visually too tall. I commend BMW for having the courage to introduce well designed and well engineered innovative products to offer more choices to the BMW Enthusiast.

Pricing has been released in the UK and seems to be close to the coupe about $2000 more

http://www.bmw.co.uk/en/index.html

In Germany it starts at E 36.1K see attached German pricelist

The 335i GT (non xDrive) will cost 3250 EUR more in Germany than the sedan according to a released German ordering guide (49350 EUR vs 46100 EUR base price). I believe it has a few more standard features, including larger wheels. Obviously, this may not reflect the differences in US pricing.

+1

I think a lot of us who've had crossovers are glad to see an alternative to hauling around the big empty space in the back 24x7 when it's rarely needed. Sedan lovers not so much. But the 3er GT was apparently what's been rumored as the X4. Personally, I'm glad its offered in the 3 series as it now has options not available on the X series.

Personally, the 3er GT stopped my SUV purchase in it's tracks. I found the attached UK pricelist. I know BMW USA will price it but converting Euros to USD, the GT is price competitive with the decently featured Q5 Hybrid, Q5 TDI, Touareg, and X3 on my shortlist. If it prices out (with options) lower than those, it's a slam dunk.

Uploading attachment isn't working and I don't recall where I found it. Sorry... it is out there.

EDIT: Found the link: http://www.bmw.co.uk/dam/bmw/marketG...ranturismo.pdf
