Did you speak with someone before you placed your order online? If so, I would be a bit salty.

Cancel the order and try on Shox.com or turnermotorsport.com. Bavauto has not been one of my favorite suspension vendors ever since they recommended that I put Billie Sports on my 97 E36 328i convertible with OEM springs.

It is frustrating, but I wouldn't get too upset. Inventory levels are perhaps the most difficult thing to manage for an online retailer, having to keep stock sometimes across their own site, ebay, amazon, another site, and any local orders. If it happened twice from the same retailer I'd be upset, but once is certainly within tolerance.

Bavarian Auto's website does not show a real-time inventory. Everything they carry is offered for sale, doesn't matter if it's in stock or not. They do recomend that you call them if you need a particular part. You're lucky you got an email. I've ordered parts, only to find out when the order arrives that some items were out of stock. I got a little postcard at the bottom of the box.

AutohausAZ in Arizona shows a real-time inventory. They also offer several different options for the same part.
