Auto Tranny Filter and Oil Change Kit ?

Been looking at all the available threads in the best of E39 and elsewhere on this forum. Could not see one that had a list of recommended kits that includes, filters, gaskets, replacements screws, upgraded magnetic drain and fill plugs etc for a DIY.

Could we compile this in one thread please, with recommendations on who sells the best kit, the lowest priced ones, the VFM ones etc..

I ordered all my transmission filter replacements parts etc. from BMW of Silver Spring, MD. Their website is:

www.getbmwparts.com

You won't do much better pricewise ordering elsewhere and you will be ensured to receive genuine BMW parts.

If this be the case, then what all are the spares we need to buy and what would be the possible part numbers?

a. Oil,Filter: 24341423376 $33.05
b. Gasket: 24101423380 $16.97
c. Drain Plug: 24117507555 $8.60
d. Fill Plug: Part No?
e. Torx Bolts 22 Nos: 24101423273 $1.68 each
e. Oil : Is it 20 Lts ??

The above is what I could gather from realoem. Is this correct? Are these the right prices? Did I miss anything?

You don't need to replace the pan bolts, fill or drain plugs. You just need the filter, gasket and and ATF to do this job. There has been much discussion on the correct ATF to use. Some use ESSO LT 71141 ($15-$20/qt and others use Valvoline MaxLife or Castrol Multivehicle Import (about $6/qt). There are numerous DIYS, videos and threads on this topic.

True, I realise that. Was posted as an indicative pricing for anyone else that may come by for the same stuff.
