Nissan skylines are illegal in the States. They get crushed if you have one. Its a damn shame really. Soon the R32 will be 25 years old, making it legal to import because it'll be a historic.

I love my nissan, its an absolute animal in every regard. Throwing that little screamer everywhere never fails to please.
Yep, i used to be a huge Holden fan before i got into BMs, the story is that they used to use a GM sourced V6 unit which didnt meet the emission laws that australia implemented (one of the first countries to bother about that stuff), and GM couldn't come up with an engine quick enough, so they used the RB30 from nissan in the lesser models, and a GM V8 in the top models.

Illegal????? why?? i have never heard of a car being illegal

safety and emissions. they were never sold here so they never officially met standards and regulations.

"Have your car crash tested or we'll destroy it." - catch22 huh?

Its a GT-R, just like the R32s, R33s, R34s...

Believe it or not, these are skylines here also known as G35s.

Gentlemen, the Skyline 350GT:

and my 350Z is also a FairladyZ.

yes we have those skylines as well, but usually called Nissan G35 Skylines. If you said you drove a nissan skyline meaning one of those you would be laughed at. i think they are badged Infinity's in your country correct? But i have never seen one of those done up here though. They were never sold here so they are all japanese imports

AFAIK Fairlady Z badge was only used in Japen correct?

This post is a couple weeks old but I thought it says to run 89 octane on my fuel cap? (95 BMW 540i 4.0L V8).

some countries (like godsown New Zealand) use the RON system, whereas the USA use a different system, so depending on what you read take note of where it is coming from.

Here, 91 is regular, which is equivelent to your 87ish
Premium is 95 or 98 depending which brand you go to, which is equivelent to your 91
there is also super premium available here at some sites but thats an ethanol blend no good for most cars, and is over 100 RON

To keep it specific to E34:
1/ M20 M30 and M40 engined E34 require regular petrol as they DO NOT have the technology to take advantage of Premium. Anyone that says otherwise, im sorry but thats placebo.
2/ M50 and M60 E34 need Premium.

Edit: Here is some more reading on the octane debate and why your system is silly :P

Ahhh KIWI, pretty close to the mark there, bro.
I've got an E34 535i & an E34 B10 Alpina, for all intents & purposes the engines are the same except the Alpina is better developed, chalk & cheese really, The 535i uses (Aussie) 91/93/95 oct and to put 98 in makes NO difference in performance. The B10 uses 98 or 105 (when available) and absolutely loves the stuff. On 95 oct it struggles.

Higher up the thread it was suggested add a booster instead of a higher octane.... FUEL BOOSTERS ARE A WASTE OF MONEY! ALSO... N-E-V-E-R put fuel in the car containing ethanol unless the engine is specifically designed to take THAT crappy stuff. Great way to stuff it!

OH! And something about young fellers not listening.... been there, done that Let him have his head of steam and blow an engine or gearbox.... AND MAKE HIM PAY FOR IT. He'll learn quick enough!
