Wont Rev past 4k RPM's

Here we go again.... Car used to run and drive just fine was driving home the other day and the shifting seemed to be off and what not else...filled the tranny fluid was a quart and a half down.
The car wont rev over 4k rpms it hits that point and it will not give anything else at all. I can hit the kick down pedal to downshift the car and it literally revs to 4k and wont move any faster then it proceeds to upshift and starts to move forward again....the mpg needle is also jumping back and forth when i have constant pressure on the accelerator.... the car feels like it's bogging in general could this be something fuel related?

Any transmission warning lights on?

No gear light .Im reading a ton about limp modes for the tranny however.....I have no idea how to clear it ..... she has the same symptoms as all cases Ive been reading at start up she runs like a champ after that it kicks back into limp mode

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But odd that it's essentially behaving like it's in limp mode, but without the light.

In park she runs like a champ can rev all the way to redline no problem... no idea how to diagnose a tranny computer code or anything of that nature....

Disconnect battery for about 45 mins and see if that fixes it. Sounds like in limp mode. Ashlins x5 did this about a week ago bc I unplugged the MAF with car on. Sounds like being low on fluid tripped yours.

Alright guys ill try that and see how it works when i leave class if anyone else has any other ideas shoot away
