help with obd1 harness
I have a 93 325is. the guy before me had put a s50 528 in and a 325 head and a obd2 conversion. im having trouble figuring out what he screwed up can anyone help me with details on how to properly convert a obd1 harness to an obd2 harness so i can fix this hack job. Also possibly how to wire an E-manage into the harness because the e manage should take place of stock computer so it wouldnt throw codes but i dont think its properly installed because my check engine light comes on. if i could find a bentley manual i probably could figure it out mysdelf but no luck on that

Manual, LARGE .PDF. Right click and "save as":
http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...13614148271693 This may do you more good with the electricals, the ETM for a '93 325: http://wedophones.com/Manuals/BMW/19...g%20Manual.pdf S50 was not a 528 engine (2.8 liter). S50 was a 3 liter engine, not 2.8 Why would someone put an M50 (325) head on an S50 (or 2.8)?

Going OBD2 for a turbo project is wrong, though. Bad monkey! Why did you buy this?

ken, the head for the m50/m52/s50/s52 appears to be the same casting.
the idea that one may be 'better' than another is a bit confusing, since the 323 apparently uses this casting as well as the e34 (525). there is a 400 designation on some castings that is supposed to (somehow) be 'better', and therefore is a bit more pricey (for some reason... ), but i cannot seem to find a consistent answer as to why. i certainly isn't because it's a "//M" specific head, since it was used on multiple engines... so op, the head makes no difference. the crank would, but that's a different subject from what was posted here..... oh, yeah....the llinky...almost forgot ![]() http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?part=11121703637 df

The M50 and S50 use different heads, and but the M52 and S52 use the same head (but still different than what was used on the M50 and S50).

also, the 323 is listed as using the same head. i have not looked at these side by side, but i would figure the difference may be in the combustion chamber cc's?? i do not remember seeing different valves listed for these guys when i was looking that up the other week...df
