Buy a 2002 745? Yes or no? What to look out for? Newbie

Are they that bad? I'm selling my 300c and wouldn't mind a big body bimmer. If I do what do I need to test? I see the alts go bad, anything else? The mileage will be 95-120k.

I have a 2004 and I love it and hate it at the same time. What to look for ?
ASK units go out on virtually everyone at $900 discounted dealership price.
Next is the Logic 7 amp at a similar price.
Transmission issues associated with down shifts or shifting in general.
Faults for no reason, lights on and then off on the next startup.
No aftermarket shocks available if you want to go Bilstien or Koni the answer is no.
Make sure you can either turn a wrench or have a great BMW mechanic and you are armed to the hilt with diagnostic tools. The e65 board is very helpful and active on this site.

dont buy one i was gunna until i did research, and im a mechanic and my family has been running an auto garadge for 30 years , and i still cant keep up with one of thosedreadful cars, i just got a 2001 il instead , that car is a dud, one of bmws worst cars ever produced, just didnt get it right

Personally, I would not buy a 2002 model as the first model year is very prone to many issues. Avoid it like the plague.

go with a older 7 series one.. i just got a 97 740il and so far runs good bout to do some upgrades to the radio and stuff.. if you need some car audio let me know pm me i will hook you up

Umm hell no. Its been said by lots of enthusiast, the 2002 745i is the worst BMW made. Because of those motors are somewhat of a nightmare, the transmissions are a gamble. Than you get into the electronics and what not inside the car. I'm a tech savvy person, and 1st Gen iDrive was terrible. Skip the 2002 and look for 2004 or later, although the 745s have been E38 cheap from a few years ago.

Is the 2003 the same too of just the 2002? 2004 not in my budget.
