Is the car overheating? Coolant loss can be internal engine leaking through the headgasket and burning out through the exhaust ($$$$), heater core, or a leaking waterpump (typically the mechanical ones around 100K miles). If underengine cover is on you may not see leaks that are present. Could also be as simple as a heater hose cracking. How many miles?

Hey there, sptt144. I would also check the coolant reservoir. I had to replace one on my x5...it is an easy fix to do yourself

Yes, if it's leaking. You should see dried solids where a leak occurs.

Does your car put out more than normal white fog on cold start? Smell sweet?

Be really careful with this because it takes only one overheat to blow a head gasket.
You need to investigate the source of the leak. If you have the plastic pan on the car you need to remove it and locate the source of the leak unless it is obvious. If you can't find it buy some dye which most autoparts sell and put it in the coolant. It will show a bright yellow-green color unmistakeable...
