1994 540i trans slamming in and out of overdrive

Hello,
I have 94 540I with 170k. When driving on the highway the vehicle bucks and slams in and out of overdrive when i step on the gas. This started about 5 months ago, it started with it doing it every once in a while and now its doing it all the time and some times it down shifts hard and will start of in 2nd and shift to 1st when i take off. My question i have is, is my trans toast or could it be the trans computer also there is no trans message in the check control. Also will a 5speed trans from a 530i fit and a trans from a 740i or 750i? Thanks for your time guys and gals

if you are putting your foot to the floor it will be engauging the kickdown switch, dropping down gears as its supposed to do

A vid isn't going to show much it more or less felt in the transmission. I'm not sure if there is a overdrive lock out solenoid that I can unplug to not let the car go into overdrive.

any transmission problem, i would usually suggest starting with fluid. Yours may be low and it could act that way. Maybe its as simple as topping off fluid, hopefully.

yep. id say 60-70% of transmission errors in the E34 E36 era are due to low transmission oil
