what?? iirc the part numbers for the heads are the same....
and i thought s50 *was* obd1....why do you need to go obd2 on a 93?? i'd get the right tune for the s50 and then should be just plug-n-play, no?? ![]() there's a thread about 'how bmw's are like legos'. think it's in one of the stickies... but i am sure more will chime in on this subject.... df

Also curious as to why you need to go obd2. Generally making an m/s52 obd1 to use in an obd1 car is common and its a painful process for a first timer. But going the other direction, why??

I don't know why you'd ever want to waste your time refitting a car from OBD1 to OBD2.
OP, your car was OBD1 from the factory, and has an OBD1 engine installed. Why do you want to switch to OBD2?

Quote:
All cars sold in the US from 1996 onward are OBD2. Anything before that year (including your '95) is OBD1.

for clarity, anything designated a 96 model year (can have a x/95 production date....) is an obd2 compliant vehicle.
it should also state this on the emissions placard under the hood where the engine displacement and emissions information is posted. and i agree with karl. if it was hacked, it's best to simply put it back together un-hacked and keep it obd1. df
