Hey guys, just wanted to say hi. Just picked up a very lightly used 2012 X5 35d (6k miles) for the wife. Its AW/Cinnamon, premium pkg, sport pkg, premium sound, running boards and 20's (214's). I couldn't justify spending $15k+ more for a new car when this is practically a new car. We traded in our '08 Q7 3.6Q and the X5 is hands down better in all areas. the diesel is silky smooth and has an abundance of torque w/o getting into it, and it drives like a car not a 5k lb suv. I figure we should save about a tank of fuel every 2.5-3 weeks
Its in the shop now getting clear bra and i have interior led's on order. I've been reading about the various tunes available which seem to be much more popular wiht 335d owners and not X5 owners, i'm guessing due to the demographics and/or what the car is used for. Regardless, still interested. I like the JBD, seems inexpensive and easy while still getting decent gains, and codes can be cleared to avoid warranty issues (it seems). I know there is more power to be had, but not spending $1200 and can't send the ECU out (its her daily driver). Any additional input on this would be great, not too much i could find on here about tuning the X5 35d. Thanks, Jeff |

Congrats and sounds like you're off to the right start with the tune and clear bra! I just clear bra'd mine and I'm probably going to go with a Dinan tune. Have fun man and post pics!

Congrats!
We ordered the same color combo last week. I see you ordered the clear bra. With a white car, does the edge catch dust making the line show up more so than on a dark color? I am leaning towards not getting the bra because the line would bug me on a white car. Your thoughts?

I've had clear bra on my Ibis S4 since the day after i took delivery (12 months and about 12k miles ago) and i'll admit that the partial line bugged me a bit at first...BUT, i wasn't willing to pay 2x more for full hood/fender and evertime i wash the car and see that the front end is completely 100% chip free, I get over the hood line i have a real pet peeve with rock chips so the clear bra is a must, especially liviing in houston with all the construciton and road debri.Also, if you get the edges rolled, it eliminates many of the hood/fender edge lines. I use a good cleaner made by xpel and i have no issues with dirty lines. on dark cars, you have to worry about keeping wax out of those lines. so its a double edged sword.

You could avoid all the lines by having the entire hood, bumper or panel wrapped.

[QUOTE=jfabes;7397846]Nice S4

Welcome to the club! My X5D should be here any day now.
and nice to see some B8 S4 love. I just got rid of my 2012 S4 a couple weeks ago for the X5. I live alone and don't need two cars. Well, my GF lives half the time with me but she has her own Loved the S4. Best car I have ever owned but the lack of space kept getting in the way so I got the X5 with AD! Hoping to keep this one for a long time.

Welcome Jfabes.....I just purchased the wife a 2010 X5 CPO....you over on Audizine?....I believe so. Anyway, I have clearbra on my glacier white 2013 S4 and the lines don't bother me one bit because I know the protection its providing. I'm considering having the clearbra installed on the X5...although it has a few (not many) chips in the hood...wasn't sure how that would look.
