Hmmm, a disturbing number of these nicknames reflect the owners spending dough fixing these cars.

As a relatively new BMW owner should I be worried?

No, and yes. It's not so much a name as a designation: The Bavarian Express. Sort of like Air Force One in that it only applies while I'm driving, with a nod to the Orient Express in allusion to my preferred mode of travel: High speed, limited stops. It started as a joke years ago, when answering the phone on cross-country trips ("Hallo, wilkommen am der Bayerische Express!") and quickly stuck.

Technically, this should be BE II because first use was in my first Bimmer but I never refer to it as such. The E36 in between was, and shall remain, nameless!

Never thought of naming my bimmer. But if i were to give her a name, it would be Buddy. Literally! Just a random thought.

Mine is Frau Blau or simply the Frau.
The wife refers to her as "your mistress"

Similar to your wife's comment, my girlfriend always says, "You love your car more than me! I can't believe I have to compete with a car."

Haven't got a name for mine yet. The Ford Fusion I had was "The Fuze"

I have the same issue with my fiancee'. She is sure that if there was a ring big enough that I would have put a ring on her

Name is Snow
It came to me while listening to RHCP - SNOW. It also matches the car's color.

My previous car was named Silvia because it was Silver.

My E90 is named Lana. My E39 was named Anya and my E36 was named Katiya. Naming a car is like naming a rifle in basic training it must be done.

Oddly enough, I never named my M16 in basic... yet there were many like it, and that one was mine. Without my rifle, I was nothing, and without me, my rifle was nothing. Semper Fi

Of course - and what a fitting thread for my first post. Her name is Guiselle, a German name with a Spanish spelling after a ... well the story isn't all that important.

Long time browser, first time poster. Lots of really great information I've gleaned from you guys - look forward to contributing.

My class in basic was amongst the first by the Army that included 24/7 weapons fimiliarizarion To cut down on AD's(Accidental Discharges) during the earlier year s of the war in Iraq. We went and did everything with our rifles eat, sleep, PT, shine boots you name it we did it.

Thank you for your service. Our rifles were attached to us as well, virtually another limb. I've never been to Iraq. Afghanistan, yes. Actually just EAS'ed this past October from the Marine Corps.

I give you many kudos for being a part of the first basic class to give the 24/7 weapons familiarization a go. Cutting down on accidental discharges obviously is paramount - no need for opportunities for friendly fire when there is already enough unfriendly fire to worry about.

As much as I love the Full Metal Jacket reference... I'm not from Texas.
