Help with Radio/cd/gps
Hello all E46 fanatics.
I'm new to the forum.
And would like some help from you guys.
I'm from Sweden, so my english might no be perfect.
But I hope you will understand me anyway =)
To the problem;
I just bought a E46 M3 -02
And you know how you are when you stare at a car you wanted for so long.
You do not check if everything works - And I didn't check if the stereo worked properly.
I have the 16x9 headunit.
I have the HK amp.
I then noticed the car drained my battery - quick.
So i checked it with a multimeter.
It drains 5.5amp when the car is off, and in sleepmode.
Some serios short there.
So I started to disassemble nearly the whole interior.
Partly to see why the stereo aint working, and to see if the previous owner had ****ed something up.
The guy who had the car before me had changed the speakers in the front doors. Those speakers are 4ohm.
In the "back doors" It was just a speaker on one side - original 3ohm
And in the parcel shelf, or rear deck. Whatever you call it.
There was no speakers at all.
Will this be a problem with 3 and 4ohm speakers?
I guess nothing will happen to the amp if there is 4ohm speakers.
Just that the best to do is to change the 3ohm speaker to another 4ohm.
So now i have put nearly all the interior aside so I can check everything up.
Here are some pictures that I want you guys to look at;
Is these cables just if I want to have a cellphone?
No GPS antenna.
The cable that was connected to the input of where I guess the gps antenna would be, was soldered 2times.
That cable went through the hole from the speaker, and down.
And went in to the cd-changer.
That cant be right?
I also have two lose cables.
And dont know what they are for.
I can add that what drains my battery is;
Many questions here.
But I really hope you could help me out.
What could drain my battery?
How is the boxes to the stereo supposes to be wired up?
Thanks in advice!_a_
I have done some hard work this weekend.
And that was to check every cable from the stereo.
So i managed to find some faults in the system.
But there is one thing remaining.
The MK4 is the one causing the problem.
It doesn't seem to shut off.
Once it turned of, and the multimeter showed 0.02A
So if the MK4 just would shut down properly.
All my problems would be fixed.
Any suggestions of what the problem could be?
