07 530xi wheel size questions

I want to up size to 19" wheels, preferably the M5 or M6 style wheel. Few of questions
Although I live Michigan, I will be using them for summer driving therefore a good reproduction wheel will do, unless someone can recommend a fix using OEM wheels

Is staggered sizes possible with the AWD? I've heard yes and no.
Can I get the correct offset size 43mm?
Where can I purchase these?
What's the best tire size I should be looking at?
Will the wheel well gap look too large with 19s, should I just consider 18"?
What lowering kit, where to purchase
Anything else would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!!

Ok, bro.....

First off, if you don't lower the car, the 18's are the biggest wheel that will still look decent. Once you shoot to 19 or 20, then lowering is a must.

Now, if you lower you have 2 options. H&R lowering springs or KW coilovers. The former are the cheap and easy option. The latter will cost you over a grand but gives you the best ride.

I had H&R's on my xi and got rid of the car....that's how much the ride sucked. Your car is not made for these springs....rebound rates are OFF, and the ride will be very bouncy and harsh. Hold onto your fillings when you go over expansion joints, etc.

If you want to lower the car the right way, buy some KW coilovers. They will cost you, but it's the ONLY way to lower an xi, in my opinion....so worth the money to maintain the BMW handling and ride.

ONce you do that, the rims are still limited as far as 19 or 20" selections. YOU CAN GO STAGGERED no matter what anyone says. There are no M5 reps that are any good. Miro makes M6 reps that are decent, but not hubcentric. I tell everyone to look at VMR for reps as well....they are hubcentric wheels.

Sizing is the same as non-xi's as far as widths of wheels and tires...245/35/19 F, 275/30/19 R.....if you do 19's. You can do 285/30/19 in back also. Now the most important thing is getting the OFFSETs right. Xi cars have higher offsets......fronts will need to be around ET30-35 for a staggered setup, with ET35-45 in back, depending on how much push outward you want.

Good luck!

I really appreciate the candid anwser, and respect your opinion. i drive a ton of highway miles and really don't want to sacrafice the ride quality, not sure the coil overs are worth the money for the looks, next time I'll get a 550 or a M5. In the meantime, the 18's in a staggered set up sound like the way to go, right?
thanks again!!!

M5 replicas with the right offset will fit fine. OEM M5 wheels will not.

Great information. But it just confused me more. I have a 2010 535XI with stock 17" rims. I have looked online for a 20" rims esp on http://www.carid.com/. I selected the 20" rims along with the tires. It says verified fitment. So now once I get the tires and rims do I also need to lower the car like you say in your post ? Sorry I am just trying to understand. Maybe the whole idea of me going for a bigger rims is wrong ?
Thank you.

DUDE! This thread is 4 1/2 YEARS OLD! You really expected him to answer you?

If you're looking for good Style 166 reps for an xi, check out OEMWheels+.com.

I seen it was an old thread and have also noticed this type of question being asked more and more. Lowering is not a must, besides with an xi won't get far. I just picked up some reps at discount tire this week. They are 18's. Here is a look.
I have a friend with an 07 528xi and 19's, I can't really tell any gap difference.

They are made by Drag and do not claim to be replica's. Though I think they are very similar. To each his own on the looks.

I installed 172s (550 m sport) on my 530i direct fit with 245/35/19 conti dws. No problems what so ever. I could have went 20 easily but you sacrifice ride quality. There's good 172 reps out there too if you like how they look.
