Courtyard Marriott, Munich City East

I would appreciate comments on this hotel; Munich Marriott and Munich Airport Marriott are booked solid for some convention.

I booked Munich Marriott for my coming June 2013 ED. It has good reviews on Tripadvisor.

I stayed 3 nights in Jan 2011. Found it to be fine. Paid $85/night through Orbitz.

The OP is asking for feedback on the Courtyard Marriott because as he stated the Munich Marriott is fully booked.

Thank you. I will go ahead and make my reservations. How did you travel from airport to the hotel and then from hotel to Welt? Appreciate the help.

Assuming you are talking about the hotel located on Orleansstraße I stayed there last July. It's very clean, fresh and modern. It's about a 5-6 minute walk (no turns) down the street to the U/S Bahn station (Ostbahnhof). I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Munich has an excellent public transportation system. When you get to the airport, go to the main terminal and buy a train pass for the time you will be in the city. The people selling the passes speak English, so explain to them how long you will be there, where you plan to go, and they will sell you the pass that best fits what you want to do. The system is easy to understand, and is clean, safe, and efficient. We were in Munich for four days last summer, and used this system to travel everywhere we wanted to go in Munich, including downtown, the Welt, Dachau, and other places. We stayed at the Residence Inn, it was next door to the Courtyard, and right down the street from a major train station (can't remember the name off the top of my head, started with an "O"). The hotel was extremely nice. I used Marriott points to stay there for free for four nights, including breakfast every morning. The folks at the Courtyard shared the restaurant, but I believe they had to pay for breakfast.

Also, if you're in the mood for some good Bavarian cuisine, this restaurant is between the Hotel and Ostbahnhof.

On the S Bahn from the airport to the Hotel is about 40 minutes. Not sure how long from the Hotel to the Welt (I was there visiting friends and never went to the Welt). When you get off the U bahn at the Welt there is no mistaking which direction you need to walk in to get inside.

The Welt is at the Olympia-Zentrum stop on the U3 (orange) line.....

Try to spend some time in Munich if you can, before you get your car (so you don't have to pay to park it!!); it really is a wonderful city.

We stayed there for 6 nights during our ED. As others have stated, there are two great restaurants near by. One Italian restaurant is only one block away and the other German place mentioned above is about two blocks. There is also a train station about three blocks away and a very very cheap grocery store right outside the train station. As for the rooms at courtyard, while we booked at courtyard marriott we were put in the residence Inn which is actually the same hotel just on a different side of the building. The room we had for 80E a night had a small kitchen, a fridge, a nice bathroom, a large king bed, 6 pillows of varying plushness and a small couch and seating area. It was honestly more like a small condo. The l staff was also amazing and we worked a deal out for free breakfast which was actually very good. The parking is underground and there are few cars so you can park away from everyone with your new car. Parking comes at a hefty 23E a night, though.

Overall we loved the hotel and the area it was in. We would absolutely stay there again.
