Door locks

I have locked my drivers door and now it won't unlock, tried it with the key and the fob with no luck its seems like the lock is not attached. I obviously can't get inside the door panel to have a look as the door is locked shut does anyone have any tips or tricks to get it open or get the door panel off without any damage. Thanks

It sounds like your door lock actuator has failed. If your remote door lock has been failing to lock or unlock occasionally in the recent past, then that is the problem.

If it is, the good news is that the DIY is attached: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...959&highlight=

The bad news is you've waited too long if the actuator has failed completely. It will require you to damage the inner door panel to unlock the door in order access the actuator for repair. Look for some of the links in the attacced DIY for methods of minimizing the door damage. Before attacking the door panel, keep trying to remotely unlock the door. If the actuator activates and unlocks the door, DO NOT LOCK IT until repairs can be effected.
