I honestly don't have a dog in this fight as for me what I need out of a phone, any phone is what that "avocado" could prob do just as we'll, although I would draw the line at having to rotate the number dial... A few years ago I had huge conflict issues with Windows Vista & a then new 64 bit laptop that I tried to keep (properly synced) that was as time consuming as it was frustrating. I am not a tech guy, I just want stuff to work. So I tossed a brand new $900.00 HP Laptop in the closet (it's still there), my Blackberry in the garbage (a business write off) & I went out & bought a 27 inch iMac for my office, a Mac Notebook Pro for out of the office & a the iPhone 3GS. Everything worked together & with the use of "Bootcamp" I am able to run windows applications easily & actually quicker than the aforementioned laptop. I've never looked back or anywhere else because I have no need to. A computer or a phone for that matter is a tool not the goal. I use the phone to call people, I see no utility in texting since speaking in real time to another person is far quicker & generally more precise, particularly for business as my clients like that I am taking the time to converse with them, although my wife continues to try to convert me even though i answer her texts with a call. But anything else that is what email is for, but that's just me. Other than that I create documents, send them, get them signed electronically, forward them & file them. Whatever I do on one device now including an iPad 3 all the other devices synch seamlessly and reliably. I often hear about how the graphics are better on this device or that this other one is faster on a bench test by an amount that is insignificant to me. The Wall Street Journal looks pretty damn good as does USA Today on my iPad as Well as my iPhone & they load plenty fast. Both my iPhone & iPad are faster via LTE than other offices where I use the WiFi. I think Apple users, especially those of us were converted by Windows Vista, just want it to work & they do whether its with each other or a BMW. Android & these other phones might great devices. But at the end of the day if the cord was long enough I'd be happy with that green avocado phone if it worked in my BMW... |

I don't have the car yet so really not sure but something about using your BMW assist password. Read this and some more info in the comments to the blog:

You need to have an account on ConnecteddDrive; in Europe it's only available in selected countries (including UK but not Poland), but it should be available in the US? The first 3 years are free; then you need to pay (Pounds 120/year in the UK)...
That said, I believe there are ways to create a valid login - so if anyone knows how, I'm all ears

Yes the first 4 years of BMW assist are free. In the US the dealership will have to set it up for you. It only takes a couple of minutes. The information you use to set this up is the information you use on the BMW remote app.

What's the deal with temp control on the app. It's not a remote start right? I'm not sure what it does. It says pre condition.

I had to call BMW assist to activate my log in on MyBMW app. After that it worked. You will have to make one more call after through your SOSbutton inside your car as well to activate the connection.

All I can say is...with my "d" my Blackberry Curve 8330 paired and worked flawlessly and with my Bluetec my Samsung Droid Charge *and* the Blackberry Curve have paired and worked flawlessly.Of course that doesn't exactly answer your question but it might be of interest to you.Samsung is a major manufaturer of cell phones...it's hard to imagine that your F10 won't handle it perfectly.

1. You need BMW Apps on car I believe.
2. Do an acquaintance call with BMW assist & register the car. 3. The dealership should have created a password of your choosing with you username, which would be an email address. The email needed to be in all caps for some reason on mine as did the pass word. 4. BMW assist can provide both your user name & password after you verify your identity with them. Once you log on, at least on the iPhone, you only need a 4 number pin to access it. For me it works pretty well. |
