Lost my Speedo during a rain storm
Yesterday I was driving through a hell-ish rain storm on the highway in FL. Rain was so bad that my speedo died and I got the ABS trifecta. I pulled over at the nearest rest stop shut the car down for a few minutes. It was cleared then by the time I hit 2nd gear everything lit back up. I drove about 1hr like this out of the rain and then pulled over when the weather was clear. Re-started and back to normal. Speedo worked, no lights.... back in business. But I basically drove for bout 1hr in no rain then restarted. It was raining so bad that even my co-worker behind me in a 2010 GMC 1500 Pickup lost all of his gauges. Including gas and tach. his reset with just a quick restart. didn't take 1hr like mine. What the heck causes this? This is a problem for me.

Ditto cn90...the IKE (instrument cluster electronics) receives a distance signal from the rear wheel sensor):

Damn. So I'm assuming the LR wheel sensor needs replaced b/c the water was able to short it out rigth? Maybe the boot is going bad?

Wheel speed sensors especially the cables get brittle and crack overtime start by replacing them if problem persist next guess would b ABS control mod. There is an aluminum wire connection that gets to hot due to poor placement of the mod. To close to the engine and heating up. Try to have it rebuilt if u can't u will need to replace and have recoding. Done by a dealership

I had BBA or whatever rebuild it a few months ago. It's been flawless. I think it's a wheel sensor issue.

It could just be water in the sensor ring, so the sensor couldn't correctly detect the teeth correctly. Therefore couldn't generate a good signal. I'd only worry if it happens again.

if it happened once, it will happen again. I'm going to inspect the wheel sensor and see if it's got any boot or insulation problems. go from there.

I lost abs and traction control in a rainstorm a year ago due to a wheel speed sensor. Replace it with a real oe sensor, eBay and Chinese sensors are made with poor tolerances and a crap shoot if they will even work or not.
