What feature of your F10 surprised you the most?

I tried searching the forums to see if this had already been covered, but couldn't find anything that stuck out.

I've had my F10 back from the VDC for two weeks now and I am completely enamored with it.

Two features have really stuck out to me, not because they are fantastic but because they completely took me by surprise. One is positive; one is negative.

Positive - soft close doors. I love this feature. Always thought it was silly before, but now that I've grown accustomed to it the feature is really great.

Negative - the kick to open trunk. Maybe I'm doing it wrong and need to RTFM, but 50% of the time I try to use it, the thing doesn't work and I find myself pulling my keys out of my pocket (woah is me, right).

What features overwhelmed or underwhelmed y'all?

Parking assist, really cool and impresses your friends :-), I really like the blind spot warning and the contour seats. But most of all, that little compartment on the left side of the dash below the headlight switch, big enough to hide dead bodies, that is my favorite.

For me it's the top view camera. It's hard to imagine living without it, and when I drive my wife's car it's a real pain.

My favorite feature is the feeling like I am being rear ended every time I pull away from a stop. It's great

I like that too. once an image of a rolled over car appears in my HUD. That was a pleasant surprise. I love that little compartment too.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the outlet that is located in the trunk.

I was also surprised and not in a good way of lack of storage for a spare tire and that the "well" is there with the battery relocated into it

The best feature I like is 16k miles and zero issues.

Close second is pandora integration with my iPhone.

Been able to rewind when listening to Sirius radio. Also, it pauses the satelite radio music when you receive a call and then starts playing from where it was left off after hanging up.

Even better with the BMW Remote app on iPhone. You can send directions to the car form your phone as well as lock doors, flash lights, etc.

How could I forget the Goggle Maps send feature, I probably use that on a daily basis

Now the complaint part...RFT, WTF how could BMW put such terrible tires on such a great car, to have to worry about bubbles on the side wall, what tire brand will come on the car, which tires to buy when the tread is gone, how long it will take to get them and whether or not you paid your pound of flesh to the dealer for tire and wheel insurance, are you kidding me? All on a $60,000 plus automobile...REALLY? A TERRIFIC FAIL

BTW, the lab did not come with the car just thinks it belongs to him.

My favorite is that each fob contains that particular drivers setup. When I take the wheel after my wife, I don't have to reset anything.

Do you know that if the doors are unlocked, you can simply open the trunk by pressing the lever above the license plate? You don't need the key or the kick thing if your hands aren't full.

Great thread. So many things to like

Favorite of course is the twin turbo v8. Miles and miles of smiles

Love the nav traffic too. Was trying to figure out what I should keep as my main screen and realized if you zoom out traffic you get a cool map showing weather.

Also, just realized when your mirrors are tucked in, when you hit 25 mph they automatically unfold.

Had mine a month now and still finding cool new things!

Don't know if anyone touched on this. Took me a while, but I figured out the kick the trunk thing. You need to kick in and out under the bumper and not side to side. It works everytime for me now kicking in and out. Hope that helps!

Some good stuff here. Another that I learned from a thread a while back is that you don't have to put the car in park - just push the start/stop and it goes in park automatically - saves a step.

How do you guys get that weather thing on your iDrives? I tried zooming out so much I got the whole EARTH on my screen (awesome feature on its own! Now I just drive with a big giant globe showing on my screen, all sitting there in starry space ) and I saw no weather at all.

I love way too many features on this car to list.

BTW, speaking of how the shifter works, is there a way to get the car into NEUTRAL while its OFF? Annoying that I have to turn the car on just to do that right now (sorry for O/T).

I can't tell you the specific steps, but there is a setting in I-drive that lets you select the weather on the NAV.
