Or simply read the manual and you'll know it all pretty quickly . I downloaded the owners manual and read it through at least 2x while waiting for my car to be built and delivered.

I won't rehash most of my faves, since they've already been mentioned. But there is one...

The small green symbol on the dash when your auto-lights have turned on. Incredibly handy. That used to bug me on my previous BMWs, you never knew when the auto feature had kicked in, unless it was dark enough to actually see the headlights. But now...

This is my "screensaver" mode. I discovered a few weeks ago that max-zoom-out displays a cool globe, stars in the background and all. Since I don't need NAV for day to day driving, I leave it in Globe Mode.

Another cool tip: Put pics of your friends as the Album Art for an MP3, create a folder on your USB drive for just such tracks, change the title to their name, and you can display their pic & name on the iDrive. Doesn't matter what actual track you do this too, although if it's someone I know well, I try to pick something with meaning. Very cool trick. You don't even need to play the song to have it display.

Is the caption "war" significant in any way? Like maybe that's a pick of your X? LOL

No. Inside joke. Any time my wife says the phrase "what is it good for", I always yell back "Absolutely Nothing", so I wanted WAR to play with her pick. I change it all the time. Now her pic is on that old Jimmy Castor song "Troglodyte"

I was surprised that as I back up slowly in reverse if I open the door while moving the car will put itself in "park" stopping the car rather abruptly.

Yeah - one of the most annoying "safety features"

I hate that. I've done it more times than I care to recall. I really hope it isn't bad for the tranny. At least in the Bimmer even the abrupt stop is relatively controlled and refined. My E-Class when doing the same thing would stop with a loud THUD and the whole car would rock back and forth like a cruise ship in scary waters. Seems BMW even refines their missteps better than M-B, lol.

I have to say I was most surprised at the hidden features that can be enabled through coding. I didn't know about these prior to purchasing my car. I absolutely love what coding can do. Now I will always code my cars! Thanks to this forum and the knowledge of Shawn my cars will always be better than when I purchased them.

The removal of the disclaimers in the idrive, and the tire pressure/temp readings

Those are great for sure. And no more seat belt chime

My favorite is likely still the non 2 button stop sequence. That was driving me nuts! Now just one tap of the button and open the door with one pull. Ahhh

the mph on the dash rocks too.

It's hard to understand why they prevent this. There *are* times one needs to slowly roll while looking out an open door. Not often, but still, not something they should prevent.

Does anyone know if there are gears being shredded when we do this? Cause the sound is horrendous.

That works even when the doors are locked as long as you have the key in your pocket.

That's my gun compartment as well, but I'm a Kimber guy.

My old SL 500 had a nice compartment under the front of the seat that was perfect.

My F10's compartment is not quite as readily accessible.

I can't believe that I never tried this before. If you can fit your Kimber I shouldn't have any issues fitting my Sig. I'll try this tomorrow.
