Rough Idle, Check Engine Light Need Indie Shop Advice

Hi Guys,

Jumped in my 04 530 this afternoon and had an immidate rough idle. Don't want to my local dealer, southbay bmw in torrance california. Any recommendations on a socal indie shop would be much appreciated with a shop in the southern park of LA being ideal.

If you have OBD-II code reader, check if there are any codes set. If you don't have OBD-II reader, take the car to your local car parts store; typically, they read the codes for free. Without code, diagnosis makes it difficult/guesswork.

Well, you have Southbay Autohaus right near you - however, I would not recommend them, they tried to rip me off when I went there (wanted to sell me a used junkyard NAV unit for $950 saying it was the cheapest I would find, I got a refurb unit from getbmwparts.com for $650 with a 1yr warranty). Anyway, other shops you can try are: Bullet Performance in Costa Mesa, good guys and fairly reasonable, also (if you're willing to drive a little farther for a good price) there's SolelyBimmer in Mission Viejo, very reasonable and good shop. From what I understand there's a good shop in Pasadena, but I have never used them and don't recall the name.
