Dumb question
Just signed up, had been on a similar board for my Mazda RX8. (That's a long story!)
Just bought a 2007 328i sport package with 18,000 miles, the woman never drove it. Got it for $19k after trade in. Can't complain. However, I have no owner's manual and how the hell do you get the car alarm activated with the "chirp" I'm used to? LOL I feel like a moron but can't get it going. Any suggestions? Thanks much. |

The alarm in a BMW is an option, and very few people buy it (I ordered mine for the factory, and my dealer suggested I spend the $ on something else). If your car doesn't have the alarm, it won't chirp and the "clown nose" on the mirror won't flash.
If you want the alarm, the 2007s were pre-wired for it, and the parts kit to add the function is $350 - $400 or so. It's supposedly an easy DIY installation. You can download the manual here: http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/Owner/dgh.aspx Welcome to the 'Fest!

Rx8
Previous car was a 2005 RX8. Fun car, but Mazda has real design issues with the rotary on that one. If it didn't get up to operating temp, it would flood badly and screw up the whole engine. Happened to me 3 times. That was enough.
