Lightbulb Removing the phone holder in center console

Is there an easy way to remove the phone holder in the center console?

It is a waste of space for me.

I would love it if the removable center console cup holder morphed into a clamp-style phone holder.

BMW Cell Phone Snap-In Adapter

I learned I have to buy a "BMW APPS Version Snap In Adapter" to use a cell phone in the "holder" we want to remove. I might like to use an adapter but BMW doesn't have one yet for my iPhone 5. When they do it will be expensive. The BMW Apple iPhone 4/4S Snap In Adapter was $250.

The dealers told me it could not be removed since it is connected electronically. He was just a salesman though, not a tech.

removing phone hold

My dealer said they would have to take the center console completely apart to remove it.. It wouldn't be so bad if it snapped into the top and moved out of the way when you opened it! It is totally useless as far as I can tell.

For the time being I just taped mine to the top. Not so annoying now when I open BUT it still takes up to much in the console.

I was able to remove mine in about 20 minutes. There's 3 plugs that disconnect and removing the pin and out comes the phone holder.. I have details available.

You know you can do a search on "remove phone cradle" and perhaps you will be rewarded with just the results you want. It's here, and in other forums as well. Seek and ye shall find.

Looking good.

I, too, feel it is worthless with the iPhone 5 and now the iPhone 6/6+ is available...
