The Official First E93 of Spring Pic Thread
"YO! Top down today!" so posted Calwaterboy from San Francisco on Sunday, March 3. Most of us in the North haven't even thought about taking the snow tires off yet. Some haven't even considered taking their garage queens (ahem, guilty as charged) out of the garage.
In southern NH we have an average 6" of snow on the ground, but daytime temperatures are at last consistently above freezing. I can't predict when the first E93 in full topdown glory will be spotted around here. In other parts of the US they're been seen all Winter. So, to kind of get us in the frozen north ready, how about you drop top 'Festers post some pictures for us to enjoy? SOME GROUND RULES 1. The picture has to have been taken this year. 2. Your top has to be down. 3. You must have some identifiable local landmark in the background. It can be one of national significance, or one of local fame, such as a popular ice cream stand, theater, restaurant, track or whatever. 4. Cellphone pics accepted (but be ready for ugly comments about cheesey quality. 5. The car must have been driven at least 10 miles that day with the top down! No rolling it out, dropping the top and then rolling it back in. 6. You must report the number of top down BMWs, A*d*s and M*rc*d*s you saw on your 10 mile drive. OK let's go, who's first, Cal? Who's going to nail 'First!' in each state? |

March 3rd is the first day CWB has had his top down this year????
He's Way behind!! I think my first top down day this year was in late January. We are almost getting to Pollen season here. Noticed a fine layer of green forming today as I bathed the Cabrio. But, I'm game for your little photoshoot. Tomorrow the forecast is for a beautiful day, sounds like a field trip over the lunch hour is in order.

Nope! Our Winter is mostly in December - chances're 50/50 for pleasant weather on New Year's Day, blanket spread oceanside for cracked crab & champagne. Had several top down episodes this year -- in March daytime temps often zip right up to 'warm....' . Last edited by CALWATERBOY; 03-03-2013 at 06:22 PM. |

In these parts, your ****-Sapien is a stubborn beast, brooking no advice or suggestion when 'To be top down, or not to be top down' is the question. You can easily guess the result. I myself've been nose to the wind, electric shock hair frozen straight up in 37° F air. Once was enough! ___________________________________________ Edit: GOSH-A-MIGHTY! If I saw/chainsaw the top of my Sedan off, does that count as having a makeshift E93?

The Z4 is in the shop getting oil change, trans fluid changed, diff fluid changed, clutch/brake fluid changed and new brakes, otherwise I would have you a pic. Absolutely beautiful here yesterday and today. BTW, who can guess where my sig pics were taken? Really unfair because no real identifying landmark, but it is a somewhat well known location, especially for golfers. And it is in Houston.

Okay DSX,
Here is the lunchtime pic. I had to drive 11.3 miles to get it. All done top down, even though the wind kept threatening to slam down my wind deflector. No top down Audi's or MB's noted, however I did pass a top down Lexus with temp tags on it. Qualifies as "local landmark". ![]() (and yes, please note the "M" on the wheelcover Roundels is aligned with the valve stem.)

Farewell ol' Z4, hello 328i!
A few months ago, I was sitting at a stop light in my well-maintained '03 Z4. I was hit from behind by a driver of a Grand Cherokee Jeep, non-stop at an estimated 50 mph. I was also pushed in to a Lexus in front of me. Z4 and Cherokee were destroyed. I had some head wounds that have healed and finally received a settlement from the driver's insurance company. To celebrate our fiftieth wedding anniversary, we purchased an '08 328i retractable hardtop, Atlantic Blue, with only 19.5K miles and a CPO through 4/13. Today it was 84 degrees and sunny and we dropped the top!

Kat, nice shot ...... out the Katy Freeway ...... I'm sure you never exceeded the posted limit!
Love those wheels but after having them on my E60 I believe they may be the hardest to keep clean (behind the spokes) I've ever owned!
