Another Windshield Rock Crack - Great!!!
This is the 2nd time that my windshield cracked over the last year and 4th-5th time over the last couple of years.
Previously, I would replace the entire windshield on my last car. Even though my insurance would cover it, it's a hassle sometime and there's no point to replace the windshield only to have another crack a few months later. I'm taking my car to Safelite so they can repair it by filling . Just rambling....

Smart move. It's only the wind shield. BMW is not famous for its windshield. Just drive and expensive repairs.

I had mine replaced by Safelite. $378. Initially they fixed a crack about 3 inches long for $75. Three weeks later it extended to 24 inches. They credited the $75 on the new windshield. Nice installation. First rain and the rain-sensing wipers didn't work. Took it back and they determined the sensor wasn't properly connected. Fixed it and it works fine.

Safelight is the way to go. I had them replace one on my 5-series a year ago.

with every car i own, ALL of them had a small crack from the debris on the road
the funny part is that no matter how many times my windshield gets hit, i only get 1 crack, and it's always right smack in the middle

Recently got a quarter inch crack/chip in my windshield after less than a month of ownership. Insurance will pay to get it repaired but I don't want to go through the hassle yet. Going to wait it out and see if it gets worse.

Unless you want that crack to grow put the time in to get it fixed so you don't have to replace the windshield.
Safelite did my windshield with Pilkington factory glass and new rain sensor. FYI for those that are willing to spend the money there is a clear film that is used in the RV industry to cover their windshields that is resistant to rock and debris impact http://rv-roadtrips.thefuntimesguide...ield_glass.php Their windshields cost a fortune to replace. I'm not planning to do this but it is an option...
