Blendmount in 535 pictures

Here's a few pictures of my Escort RD on the new Blendmount BBE-2017 mirror mount in my 2013 535i. Took all of 10 minutes to install including reading the directions.

Looks nice. How did you get the power to it?

That's an older Solo battery powered model. I'm going to "hard wire" in a newer 9500ix model soon.

Looks great. Not sure if I'm ready to bite the $129 price for a mount though (even with my $500 redline that seems like a lot to simply mount it - if I know I'm sticking with the 5-series for a while though it may make sense...) - I know that it's the quality that you're paying for.

+1
Looks neat but little bit pricey. I have a 9500 and I was thinking about this mount, however, I can't justify the price yet. And it is a little too visible for my liking. I prefer to place the suction cups above and behind the mirror on the driver side for stealth operation.

Looks nice, but radar detectors are better when mounted high. Also, they are less visible when mounted high - They're less visible to officers when pulled over or to theives.

Laser needs to be mounted low, but once the detector gets the signal youre toast anyway. With laser, only a jammer will help. Notice I said help not work 100% of the time. Thats determined by how much metal is accesable to the cop's laser unit and how many jammer moduals you have hooked up.

I've been through two billion suction cups though......

Thanks for the info! I've been looking for a mirror mount compatible with the 535 for some time. I just ordered the ValentineOne version of this mount.

I will post some pics on Wednesday when it arrives.

For my 2011 F10 535i with Escort Passport 9500ix, I just installed the BlendMount BBE-2014 mirror mount and MirrorTap MT-1012 mirror tap power cord, and both products are simply fantastic.

The mount was $130 and the mirror tap was $30, but these are worth every penny.

For those with newer F10's and Escort / Beltronics, the mirror stem design is different, and the BBE-2017 is the proper mount. For older F10's the BBE-2014 is the proper mount.

Thanks for the info, that looks great. I have a MirrorTap MT-1009 laying around, do you think that 3" shorter would still be OK? Or do you think you needed the full 12" on yours? Looks like the prongs should work only the length will be different.

I'll need to order the mount, I'm assuming BBE-2017 for my 2013 F10...

I think the 9" version may come up a bit short because you will be running the mirror tap pins into the top of the Molex Plug, not the bottom or it, and then the Molex Plug itself is already sitting high up in the mirror housing, so the cord needs to come up and then back down and out into the USB Port. I have no slack in mine, and it is 12".

Thanks for that. It's too bad. Perhaps I can have my friend who installs phones just make me a short RJ extension cable for it to avoid getting a whole new mirrortap.

Have you found the Blendmount to stay still? Mine kept coming loose when I had one in a Tacoma, and I followed the instructions and left the lock washer where it was supposed to go. Almost every other day the detector would be moved up or down and I'd have to re-tighten.

I have had no issues with movement. I am not aware of any Lock Washer in it either. There is only a threaded clamp screw threading the Top and Bottom clamp pieces together.

I used a 12-inch mirror tap and the original suction cups of the Escort 9500.

Do you need the additional cable? I dont want to buy it if it's unnecessary.

I got so tired with the suction cups....i use the visor mount on my X5 and it is the best solution I have found....stays put, NEVER moves, wire runs to left side under headliner from sunroof switch and voila.
