Hi. Bought a 1995 BMW 540i. It's a total POS but it's meant to get me from point A to B. It has everything wrong with it you can imagine and 200k miles. It smells like oil, coolant, it's as loud as a Chevy 350 with Cherry bomb exhaust, suspension rattles, U-joints are worn and rattle at 45 mph, burns oil, hesitates, misfires, digital dash readout goes nuts, rotors are warped, etc. But, it seems to keep on truckin' and hasn't blown up yet! I just signed up for the future when I decide to start dumping money into it I might have questions. The previous owner seemed to be into BMW cars and bought another 540i so maybe he's part of this board?

Great suggestion! But just like any old beater you see floating around, you drive it in to the ground! Actually, I have an interest in repairing it. Not for the money, but for the fun and education. Besides, the money I spend is my education rather than paying a school to show me how to turn a screw driver. The parts and engines for this vehicle appear plentiful. And cheap if purchased from Ebay. However, the Nikasil engines are probably floating around. It was fairly cheap. It ain't Lexus quality. |
