Yes!! Thank you X3. BMW is still the ultimate

I have a 2.8X3 loaner (4cyl). No sport pack. What a great chassis. The ride vs. handling balance is great. Engine is strong and smooth.

I had a 13' A4 2.0 loaner last week for my other car (not an Audi BTW). I thought the A4 was nice. Good interior. Thoughtful technology, but man I kid you not the SUV (x3) is more fun to drive. If that isn't a death sentence for Audi I'm not sure what is.

A 3 series is the most dynamic BMW chassis. So if Audis 3 series is bested by BMWs entry level SUV.... You get my point. Nothing against Audi, just not...not a drivers car. And I find it hard to believe an S or even an RS can remove this engineering imprint/philosophy.

Long live the king

BTW, my wife wanted an A5 cab after our X6 is off lease. Now I'm keeping a close eye on the 4 series....

Regards,
DR.

I had a similar impression when I tested a X3 2.8 M Sport a few months ago. I was in the market for an X5 variant and drove the X3 on a whim . Wow - not only comfy but quick, compliant, and responsive. The X5 just felt "trucky" and heavy in comparison - even the very desirable X5 5.0 I was considering. Given my long held prejudices regarding the X3, I questioned my own senses, and thought it prudent to take the X3 out for an extended test. Well the rest is history, I am now the owner of an X3 3.5 M Sport. Perhaps the highest compliment I can offer is that my X3 feels like it might have been fine tuned by the same engineers at M who were responsible for my M3 - a car I adore.

Another proud X3 owner here. Sometimes I can't believe how well it handles.

We cross shpped with the Q5. My wife, who is certainly not a car enthusiast, commented on the wonderful ride and performance of the X3. Since the car is for her she agreed that X3 2.8 was worth the extra dollars over the Q5. She is extremely frugal. We ordered the 2014 X3.
